Purchased and installed a new control panel assembly. Found a video online (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HeDtxsM2tZA) showing how to remove the old part and install the new. Even for someone with relatively little repair experience the process was easy. It took less than an hour to complete the repair and the only tool required was a screwdriver (make sure you have a torx bit).
