Wesley M Hoschton , GA May 08, 2015 Appliance: Model JTP86SOH2SS Ge microwave oven combo jtp86soh2ss (jtp86sh2ss) does not heat over 100 degrees / broil also does not work Used youtube videos to show me what components to test for diagnosis and my appliances electrical schematic located by removing the control surface beside the microwave (two screws to the right when you open the microwave door). Make sure breakers are off. I tested components for continuity and resistance. I ultimately did not get a voltage reading between the Bake and L2 nor the Broil and L2 located on the oven control. A visual inspection also showed a scorching on the L2 location and the wire at the end was whitened when it shoud be red. Indicates a short i believe. So I was pretty sure the oven control needed to be replaced. Removed the silver trim around the microwave and removed the control surface to access the oven control board. Disconnected the two plastic multi-wire connectors and unscrewed old oven control. The piece purchased here came with new wire harness so I just connected the new wiring to the plastic connector under microwave and screwed in new oven control. Replaced control surface and trim, turned on breakers. Set oven to to 250 degree temp and success. Heated up to correct temp. 6 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes
