Just so I would not need to go in again, I purchased the heater element, the thermostat, and the thermal fuse for replacement all at the same time m- cheap insurance against something else relatively old going bad soon. The parts came as promised, and the next day I followed the video on this site which was not only essential, but one of the best instructional videos I have ever seen.
Each step was clearly displayed, and I had not a single question as I assembled the parts into the dryer. In fact, I had my Surface Pro open to the video so I could follow the instructions step-by-step.
This is the first time I had ever seen the inside of a dryer, and the entire procedure only took about an hour or less.
Before I started this repair I thought my dryer was going to go the way of all our other "disposable" appliances which appear to have a lifespan of about five years. Now I am encouraged to fix other appliance problems because of this experience, and for sure I will return to this parts place for everything I need.
