My wife insisted replacing our 12 year old front loader. I insisted fixing what we have. After shopping for a new machine, I finally WON ONE!! By the sound our LG wm2277hw was making when it went into spin cycle I knew it had at least one bad bearing and wanted to fix it before it caused a fire so I investigated possible parts on Appliancepartspros.com. After watching a repair video on my machine I found that the new parts and shipping was under $75 so I ordered what I needed. I took my washer out to my shop and began disassembly. I had everything apart and down to the bearing in about an hour using typical tools in every home workshop. The tub did require the heat of a propane torch to knock the stainless tub shaft out and get to the bearings. Once cleaning the area, inspecting all facets of what was visible I gently tapped the new bearings and seal into place with a rubber mallet. It's now time to reassemble... It took about an hour and a half to reassemble and wasn't hard at all. I plugged the newly repaired machine into power, hooked up a cold water supply from a garden hose, and placed the drain hose out the door into the yard. I threw in my filthy bib's and coat, added some detergent and began a load of laundry. The spin cycle could not come soon enough. Once the spin cycle started I immediately knew I just saved over a grand and knew I could get a other 12 years out of it. My wife was so excited that I brought it back to life, to celebrate she wanted a pair of diamond earrings. WIN some LOSE some it's all about keeping Mama Happy... Anyway, even if your a somewhat 'handy' person this task is defiantly doable. Save your money and fix what you have you're only be helping yourself.
