My whirlpool is 9 years old and otherwise in good shape, however the icemaker started acting up over a few weeks, first not producing, and then ultimately cycling on and staying on too long, while water hit the floor from the dispenser. After reading up on this failure point, I bought both the valve and icemaker harness and tackled renewing these parts. A week later, all is back to normal and functioning as intended.
