Cliff V Bradenton , FL September 04, 2016 Appliance: Model GTWN4250MOWS Loud bearing noise indicating impending failure could not hear tv while spinning dry Assessment, bearing noise then - (Parts Pro - found on internet), discovered parts layout diagram, choose parts needed. Had to purchase the spanner wrench for tub nut. NOTE: 6 year old washer did not come apart like one n video. corrosion and stress caused aluminum nut seized to drum. the easiest way to disassemble is this: using dremel tool with metal cut off, remove the spline shaft close enough to the nut so a 1 11/16" (Dodge spindle nut socket) will fit. Use and electric impact along with and extension shaft. Have safety glasses and ear protection. I could see nut moving slowly with impact, but had to stop three times since the impact gun was getting hot. Once apart, the inner steel tub removed, I cleaned the aluminum hub of the steal tub with scotch brite. I also discovered that my white plastic drum liner was too worn and the online tech support helped me with this late at night, including ordering. The rubber mode shifter / tub seal had too much gap around the outside seal to the white tub,(it should be snug). The tub came in a few days later and everything went together nicely. Now my 6 year old washer is like new again. NOTE: I did use the spanner wrench and rubber hammer to TIGHTEN the NEW drum nut. If iy does not move at all while hammering for removal on the old, don't bother with anything else. go get the socket, and the impact wrench and eye / ear protection. The nut has an arrow indicating Clockwise to loosen (normal tightening for most hardware). Pars Pro has been helpful and efficient ! *Also note: I ordered with the mode shifter shaft assembly, ALL the bearings, thrust washers, split ring etc. knowing in advance that they might be worn or get molested in the removal process. The tub seal comes with the mode shifter. The How-to-video preview DID help a lot with my expectations and preparation (except the need for the impact wrench). I'm not an appliance tech, but my area of expertise is very similar. I would not recommend this particular repair level for a novice or person inexperienced with basic mechanical skills.
