Originally, I thought the drum bearings wore out but when I removed the front bottom panel to confirm it was clear that the drive motor and drum bearings were fine. The noise was coming from the drain pump that runs continuously during the spin cycle. It was a easy change that involved removing two hoses, disconnecting the power wire and removing two screws that hold the pump in place. Service call would have been $100 to show up, plus part.
