Before you begin the repair unplug the washer and use a shopvac to to empty water in the tub. Next in front of the white plastic pump housing partly unscrew the center section and use the shopvac to catch the water until empty. Failing to do this would have flooded the floor as the tub had not drained and the pump was full also.
