I researched the problem, watched 2 different 30 minute videos on how to replace the bearings, read some of the comments and deduced that it was more of a several hour job but doable with my tools and skillset. I ordered the required AND suggested parts and when they arrived I tackled it. Honestly, I could have done the whole thing in less than 2 hours, but when I got the tub apart, I was disgusted by the 13 years of crusted and slimy residue that covered the outside of the inner tub, the big front gasket, the spider arm and the inside of the outer drum. I spent a solid 3 hours just cleaning those parts pretty thoroughly. Getting the bearings out was not easy, but knowing that they did not have to be removed undamaged, I wasn't afraid to use my cold chisel and small sledge hammer and they came out in just a few minutes of smacking them as directed in the videos. I kept track of hardware with labeled zipper bags and that helped keep everything organized. It took a little while to figure out how to properly replace the front gasket during reassembly, but I could do it now in just a few minutes. There are several videos on just that and after watching closely, I figured out what I was doing wrong. I have replaced a couple of parts inside the washer before, but this was the first time I tore it down completely. Definitely not afraid of it anymore, haha. I am very happy because for about $100 in parts (plus shipping - I am not patient), my washer is now like new -AND CLEAN!
