Susan D Sarasota , FL December 03, 2018 Appliance: General Electric Refrigerator GTS18TBSAWW GE frig doing awful intermittent loud squeaking ! After a lot of research on internet we thought it might be the condenser fan motor . we were a but confused as frig still working and cooling. I had imagined if motor gone bad it would just stop . However on taking back off frig we could see fan sometimes slowed and then began loud "animal " squeaking noise ! Although the back bottom of our fridge was relatively open it was very tricky to ease out fan and motor. Fortunately I had also ordered fan and grommet as fan was almost impossible to remove and had to be pretty forcefully bent and grommet was disintegrating as was very brittle. They had to be removed to put new motor in the holding brace. It was still quite awkward to wriggle new fan and motor back in . However frig has now stopped squeaking and touch wood is working fine ! Fridge is about 14 years old . We did go to look for a new frig in case we couldn't fix the problem but annoyingly shelf etc " improvements " have been designed which aren't what we want . Parts were sent very fast and exactly right fit . second repair made using your company . Thank you very much . Kenneth F Manchester , NH January 23, 2024 Broken condenser fan motor. I watched an AppliancePartsPros.com YouTube video, went on their website, and ordered the parts. The parts were genuine GE. I also called customer/technical service to answer a question about the direction the fan was supposed to spin. Would you believe that the customer service was in the USA, competent, and friendly….well they were! Dennis S Davis , CA September 15, 2023 Squealing refrigerator. Replaced condenser fan motor. Hardest part was removing the wiring connector from the sheet metal guard. Your excellent step by step video and one year return policy convinced me to purchase from you rather than other sources. Loved that I received the part the next day even with standard shipping. Renee T Winter Park , FL August 16, 2015 Appliance: General Electric Refrigerator GTS18DCPURBB Refrigerator condenser fan motor I noticed a whining sound coming from behind the refrigerator and discovered the fan was turning but only intermittently. I researched online and discovered two good options: clean the fan or replace the motor. Cleaning the fan didn't help. The motor looked easy to replace so I ordered it online. There is only one electrical connection running the fan and it's easy to pull. There is another plug or two nearby that should be pulled for ease of removing the bracket holding the fan motor and blades (which itself was a pain to remove but it was the best way to replace the motor). The new motor arrived in less than two days (regular delivery). I watched a short video online to confirm how to do the project. I cleaned the fan blades, etc., and replaced the motor on the bracket in just a few minutes. I then slid the bracket easily into place and plugged the (few) connections back into place. Voila! It worked perfectly! Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers
William N Bloomington , MN October 08, 2018 Appliance: General Electric Refrigerator GTS18SHSLRSS Sounded like a squeak toy. My 13 year old fridge had a strange squeak to it. Thanks to videos on the internet, including AppliancePartsPros.com, a likely cause was the blower motor or grommets. Videos made it look easy. Opened up the back of the fridge and saw it in action. Motor had a VERY slow start. As it came up to speed, it shook, and that's definitely where the noise was coming from. Looked up the fan on a few sites. Decided to get the grommets as long as I was doing it. Everything showed up promptly. Only had to remove two screws. One on the back cover of the fridge. One on the brace for the fan. There was another screw on the brace, but it was very difficult to get to and I managed to get the motor out with just removing one screw. Might be one of the easiest home repairs I've done. If I had to do it again, it'd be five minutes (once you pull the fridge out). Parts are overpriced (Appliance Part Pros was competitive, so no reflection on them), but a whole lot less than a new fridge. Absolutely worth it. Read More...
