I ordered a door/lid switch kit and an actuator and replaced them both. I probably didn't need the actuator, but it probably didn't hurt to replace it. The only issue I had was that the switch didn't seem to fit that well when installed on it's own, along with the actuator. Replaced it: Loosened and lifted the wig wag solenoid used a drill with grindstone and ground off the rivet head, swapped the new part in... BUT... the kit didnt contain the rivet clip so I had to hit the hardware store for a pushnut that fit, hopefully it will stay on. Read more

Our Kenmore Series 70 washer no longer spun during the rinse and spin cycle. After scouring the resource on the internet, the lid switch checked out OK, so it boiled down to the wig wag solenoid unit that engages the transmission. The back panel was opened and a check with a multimeter showed one of the solenoids was an open circuit and provided no resistance reading. Researched this kenmore washer on-line and found the problem to be the lid switch. Saw a diagram on how to jump this switch by connecting a wire to both outside wires on the harness and voila! It worked! This is not a fix but it allowed me to finish the load of unwashed clothes and told me which part was bad (do not run washer jumped like this.......fire hazard!)
