The Timing Cam is an OEM part for Whirlpool dryers. This is part of the dryer's timer mechanism and manages the sequence and duration of drying cycles.
Causes of a bad Timing Cam often stem from mechanical wear and tear over extended use, which can lead to the cam becoming worn down or damaged.
Symptoms of a bad Dryer Timing Cam include:
- The dryer not advancing through its cycles properly, leading to under or over-dried clothes.
- The dryer stopping mid-cycle or failing to start a cycle at all, indicating the cam isn't engaging the timer contacts correctly.
- Unusual noises from the timer area, which may suggest the cam is damaged or misaligned.
This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

- Useful diagnostic step: check the element for continuity and for shorts to ground
What's included: 1 heating element Install notes:
- Disconnect power before service; elements get extremely hot and retain sharp edges

Dryer drum was making one heck of a racket while running Michael R. • Closter , NJ • January 08, 2015
The cylinder roller that supports the dryer drum was worn and needed to be replaced. I ordered the idler pulley shaft and associated parts as well since I wasn't sure if these were worn too.
Watching the video on the web site gave me a good idea what was involved and where to look. It wasn't my exact model and make but provided sufficient information on what to look for. The parts were exact fits which was a great relief abd the dryer is running like new again!

None 18 years of service and some hints that a rebuild or replacement would be needed not fond of build quality of new machines chose to rebuild older model William M. • Boston , MA • February 08, 2019
Performed a partial rebuild of all expendables..clutch/brake/ seals/agitator cogs/suspension springs..chose to replace the basket drive rather than rebuild...cost diff was minimal.did rebuild the drive tube..seals/bearings..have spare control card..so exposure is to motor or gearbox failure..both of which are easy pulls..Whether we would rebuild or replace gearbox upon some future failure is undecided. Note the videos offered by APP are quite good but there are sometimes minor gaps in the tear...
