I replaced the ball and socket connection for the drum. After doing so, I realized that the belt had been stretched and the tension pulley was not putting enough tension on the belt to turn the drum. After ordering a new belt, extra screw that was lost while disassembling the dryer, and some high temperature lubricant for the drum ball and socket the dryer now runs as well as it did when it was new.

This should be an easy 5 minute three screws out and three screws back in job....but on older stuff it's never easy is it? The screws that hold the skirt on my burner were, like the skirt, rusted solid and despite soaking with PB-1 Blaster they just broke off when I tried to remove them.
