This replacement part is an electronic circuit board for range hoods. A range hood is the metal piece on top of the stove that holds the fan. It functions as a ventilation system to filter and circulate the air, smoke, and heat coming from the stove while cooking. The electronic circuit board controls the main functions of the range hood. Before installing this part, make sure that the range hood is unplugged, or turn off the circuit breaker that goes to the range. The circuit board is located within the chimney above the motor. First, unthread the four screws holding down the circuit board. After the screws are removed, take off the cover. Line up the new circuit board with the old one, and replace the old wires into the correct terminals on the new circuit board. This might require a pair of needle-nose pliers. Once wires have been connected properly, remove the ribbon wire from the old board and place it into the new. Uninstall the old circuit board by removing the screws that secure it. Secure the new circuit board in place of the old by fastening the screws back into their original place. This genuine OEM replacement part is compatible with Bosch, Gaggenau, and Thermador range hoods.

Hello Dennis, This could be the switch on the board 00415292 or a harness 00487459 shorting intermittently to ground, effectively bypassing the switch. Let's hope it is not the harness since it is unfortunately no longer available and no satisfactory substitution has been provided by the manufacturer.

Rick, You will want to test the transformer on the unit and ensure that there is 120 vac going into it and 12 vdc coming out of it to the lights. If there is 120 vac in but not the 12 vdc coming out then the transformer is faulty and would need to be replaced. If there is no power to the transformer then the control board is faulty.

John, You would want to test the transformer on the unit. On one side it should have 120 vac. The other side should be 12vdc. If you are not getting 120 vac to the transformer then the control is bad and if you are getting the 120 but no the 12 then the transformer is bad and would need to be replaced.

Hello Paul. Make sure there are no bad wires on the unit. If not, and there is power to the board, but the lights do not work, see if there is power coming to the transformer from the board. If so, and no lights, and the lights are good, replace the transformer 00487414. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Hi Paul. I would use a volt/ohm meter part # MA-DM1 to assist. you in your diagnosis. Test the bulbs to see if the filament is closed and not open. Bulb Part # 00601584. Then test the socket and see if the transformer output voltage 12v is there. You can check the transformer supply (input) 120 vac is there. If so then replace the Transformer part # 00487414. If not then access the control board and see if the transformer output pins are getting the output, board part # 00415292. Make sure all wire connections are clean and tight. Thank You.
