The Lower Door Seal is an OEM part for Bosch dishwashers. It is installed at the bottom of the dishwasher door to prevent water from leaking out during the washing cycle. This seal ensures that the dishwasher operates efficiently by maintaining a tight closure, keeping water contained within the unit and protecting your kitchen from water damage.

Causes of a bad Lower Door Seal can include general wear and tear, damage from sharp objects, or drying out and cracking due to heat and detergent exposure.

Symptoms of a bad Lower Door Seal include:

  • Visible tears or gaps in the seal,
  • Water leakage around the dishwasher door,
  • Unusual moisture accumulation on the kitchen floor near the dishwasher.

This OEM Bosch part is also compatible with Thermador, Gaggenau, and some Kenmore models.

For Bosch Lower Door Seal (Part Number: OEM17073918)

Hans for Model Number SHX68T55UC/02

Had E15 code so replaced both door seals. I tested the unit with front panel off so I could monitor gasket for leakage. Turns out that when unit fills, it keeps filling until water is almost out the door (gasket submerged and leaks at corners, lower rotating bar is underwater. Level 1-1/2" above coarse filter edge). I tried pinching the water valve to almost zero, and retesting multiple times and unit always fills with too much water, it just keeps cycling between running pump and and filling 3-4 times to the same high level. Is there a sensor that can be checked or level calibration adjustment?

Hans, Based on the information provided the water inlet housing with the sensor in it would likely be the issue. 11030996

Chuckie, Thanks for the question!!! Your model number is not complete. There will be a two-digit number after the shpm78w55n. The model number needs to be complete for the compatibility tool to work.
