Ann W. May 03, 2012 for Model Number Sgcs365rs My right front burner will not light. I can hear the clicks and smell gas but don't see an arc coming out to light. Do I need a new burner or igniter.
1 Answer Hi Ann. Very common of after a cleaning or a few cleanings the burner gas ports will get clogged. Look carefully at them with a flashlight and use a straight pin to clear them out. Clean the area where the burner cap properly aligns correctly on the burner itself. It needs a proper ground path for the igniter to lite. Clean underneath the cap where the burner spark travels to. If all of the other burners are sparking then you commonly need to replace a shorted or open Top burner electrode. Item Number: 00189324. If it does spark , then also make sure the burner venturi is not clogged. Thank You. Read More...
Hank T March 27, 2012 for Model Number rdss30 Tried socket and 20 mm box wrentch to remove 3 of 4 venturi, burner (one did come out) the others will not budge all sockets slip off due to thin nut on top of venturi. Help! (why didn't they just design the top of the venturi with a hex head so an Allen wrench could be inserted since so many get stuck. Thanks
1 Answer Hank, There's not a lot of help to be had, You need to be very careful and very patient. The issue is brass venturi is designed to expand from heat, and the orifice holder is made of an alloy metal after a while of usage and expansion and contraction the venturi seizes to the orifice holde, and makes for a very difficult repair, even with the proper tools. There are various means of removing the nut portion of the venturi, dremel tool, chisel, drills etc. When you're ready to reconstruct the burners, you may want to use a very little dab of high temp anti seize compound on the venturi threads(very little)and hand tighten the ventri when you install it. Good Luck Read More...
