This water filter base secures the refrigerator's replaceable water filter cartridge and directs filtered water to the dispenser and icemaker. Replacing a damaged base restores a proper seal and helps prevent leaks and flow interruptions. What it does:

  • Holds and seals the water filter cartridge so water passes through the filter media
  • Directs filtered water to the dispenser and icemaker plumbing
  • Prevents leaks caused by cracked or worn filter housing
  • Can resolve low water flow, intermittent dispensing, or water taste issues when base is leaking or not sealing
What's included:
  • One water filter base assembly
Install notes:
  • Turn off refrigerator and shut off the water supply before starting
  • Relieve system pressure by dispensing water until flow stops, if applicable
  • Remove the old housing carefully; inspect O-rings and replace if damaged
  • Hand-tighten only; check connections and test for leaks after restoring water and power

Questions & Answers

For Frigidaire Water Filter Base (Housing) (Part Number: OEM24159054)

1 Answer

Daniel, it is possible that the filter base 242009604 is seized up. If the water is turned off to the refrigerator, and the water dispenser activated to relieve pressure, this may allow for the filter to be moved. If not and it is completely seized in, the housing should be able to be removed with the filter still in place as it is held in by tabs connecting to the refrigerator liner. This will allow for the filter base to be replaced if necessary.

YC, the water will indeed need to be turned off. With the water turned off, the filter will need to be removed. Once the filter is removed, the water filter cover will need to be removed by moving the plate on the left forward, and then releasing the locking tabs behind the plate directly connecting the housing to the cabin. Once the tabs are released, the housing will move forward and out, giving access to the base assembly.

Keith, You may have to try to get a pair of channel locks on the filter and pull it out. It sounds like it may have just gotten stuck.

Skip, the water line should be part number [218976409] as it runs from the valve to the filter head and then the same size line runs to the valve from the filter head.

Jim for Model Number ffhs2322mwc

I have a Frigidaire side by side. The water drips from the water dispenser about a drop every 15-20 seconds or less, but over time it makes a mess. I changed the water valve assembly and the water line between the valve all the way up through the door. no change. I noticed there is a humming / vibrating sound coming from the water filter, when I dispense water. I had to replace one of the lines to the filter because it was leaking. I think I am running out of options. Any thoughts?

Jim, You could install a check valve 8201815 on the water line at the bottom of the door in order to correct this issue.

Ed, Great !!!! You probably have a "self piercing" tap valve on the cold water supply line. They do have a tendency to "clog" or get restricted after a while, and under certain water quality conditions. Thanks for the update. Good Luck,
