This water filter base secures the refrigerator's replaceable water filter cartridge and directs filtered water to the dispenser and icemaker. Replacing a damaged base restores a proper seal and helps prevent leaks and flow interruptions. What it does:

  • Holds and seals the water filter cartridge so water passes through the filter media
  • Directs filtered water to the dispenser and icemaker plumbing
  • Prevents leaks caused by cracked or worn filter housing
  • Can resolve low water flow, intermittent dispensing, or water taste issues when base is leaking or not sealing
What's included:
  • One water filter base assembly
Install notes:
  • Turn off refrigerator and shut off the water supply before starting
  • Relieve system pressure by dispensing water until flow stops, if applicable
  • Remove the old housing carefully; inspect O-rings and replace if damaged
  • Hand-tighten only; check connections and test for leaks after restoring water and power

Ben for Model Number FRIGIDAIRE REFRIGERATOR model FFHS2322MSGA

Water dispenser dispensing very low flow water. I installed a new inlet valve and made sure that the water line in the freeze door is not frozen but no change. The water filter is new May2020, and the ice dispenser is working . I did an experiment : I swaped the brown and clear water lines connected to the inlet valve ( these lines are connected to the water filter; the brown one beeing the inlet and the clear one beieing the out let from the filter ) Surprisingly I had a normal pressure in my water dispenser !!! Can this be an explanation of a defective water filter base ?

1 Answer

Ben, Yes, the filter base would be the most likely cause for the lower water pressure coming to the dispenser.

Geoffrey, based on the information provided it sounds like the filter base has failed as it is not activating the bypass plug properly when the filter is fully inserted and locked in.

Hello Bill, This is not too difficult. Simply remove the covers at the top of the unit and look for the screws that retain the housing. Remove the water tubes in the following manner: To remove: Push line in and hold the ring in, then, while holding the ring in, pull the line out. To re-install, push the line in until resistance is met. Push harder until the line "pops" in another 1/4 inch or so. Pull on line without touching the ring to seat seal. Reinstall the associated parts in the reverse order.
