Cindy September 23, 2013 for Model Number 790-96613402 When I turn on bake, the broiler comes on. But convection bake works fine. What part would I need to correct this?
1 Answer Hello Cindy. Test the element and see if it is good. If so, replace the control board on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Cathy July 31, 2013 for Model Number 790 9641340C I Have a Kenmore electric range. I was in the middle of a self-clean cycle, the stove beeped and shows F40 on display. I cancelled the cycle. What is problem and what should I expect to pay to get this fixed? This happened about a year ago as well when trying the self clean cycle.
1 Answer Hello Cathy. Power supply error code. Check the supply coming from the wall. If good, replace the control board. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Larryl June 26, 2013 for Model Number 790.94462700 Per my previous question, you said to check L1 To Broil and if there is 240VAC then it is a bad control board. Should it be if there is not 240VAC, then it is a bad control board? Also, what part # would be thermal fuse for my unit? Thanks Again!!
1 Answer Larry, If there is not 240 vac to the control across L1 to broil then you will want to check to make sure that the thermal fuse is not showing as open. The thermal fuse is part number 316093501 Read More...

Brent January 30, 2013 for Model Number 7909422440B I Have a Kenmore electric range that beeps and shows F10 on display. What is problem and what should I expect to pay to get this fixed?
1 Answer Hello Brent. Usually the code F10 is for runaway temp. If you locate the tech sheet on the unit, it will give you the error codes for the unit. If it is runaway temp, you will need to order and replace the oven sensor in the unit. Read More...
Art December 08, 2012 for Model Number Ken more 790.9641240a The left front burner is inoperative. I replaced the element & switch (which was black), but it is still inoperative. Element "on light" lights and simmer light are on when pushed. Do I need to replace the circuit board? Thanks art. All other functions and elements good.
1 Answer Hello Art, The surface elements and the bake compartment are both completely separate from the terminal block of the unit. The control board will have nothing to do with the operation of the surface elements. If you have replaced the infinite switches and the elements, the issue has to be either the receptacle the surface elements plug into or the wiring. Read More...
Cathy February 05, 2012 for Model Number 79096612407 My left front burner will not work. I have replaced the switch and the burner and it still does not work. Will this board fix my problem or do you have any suggestions? Thanks
1 Answer Hello Cathy. If the simmer board 316429301 is bad on the unit, it will prevent the element from working properly. You will need to check and see if the board is bad on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...

Brian December 08, 2011 for Model Number 79096419401 My oven temp is not accurate. When you set it to 350 is goes from 300 to 375 and is not stable. The repair person said that it needed a new cpu. I see several boards for this model. Control board(316418101), Oven Control board (316557207), and a Circuit board (316429301). The TC is still good. Which board controls the heating elements based on the input from the TC?
1 Answer Brian, Before you do anything or repalce any parts, you should check your average oven temperature, you may only need to calibrate the control. First, get an accutate thermometer, you can place in the oven. Pre heat the oven at 400 dgrs. for at least 20 minutes. Then you'll need to listen and write: when the control clicks or notice the temp, start to rise, write down the temperature, when the control clicks or the temp. starts to drop, write down the temp. Do this at least three times. Average the temperatures, the average off temperature should be within 50 dgrs. of the on temperature and the average off temperature, should be within 25 dgrs. of the set temperature. If your averages are within the specifics, your control and temp. sensor are fine. You can recalibrate the control to within 5 dgrs. if needed or desired, without replacing anything.
