Billy Ray August 18, 2014 for Model Number 79047773403 Kenmore Electric Built In Oven Manual My upper and lower oven burners and broilers are not working. It seems as if both units went out at the same time. The digital display seems to be working, but when I adjust the temperature setting the burners remain cold to the touch. I hear clicking sounds for both units within control units, but burners remain cold to the touch. Since both units went out at the same, are my finding indicative of a bad relay board (dual oven) or bad thermal switch/fuse? Thanks, Billy Ray
1 Answer Billy Ray, you'll need to make sure that the unit has a full 240v coming to it. If it does you'll need to check the thermal fuses part number 318004900 and if that is okay replace the relay board 316429800. Thanks. Read More...
Wayne July 26, 2014 for Model Number 790.49063400 While baking my oven appeared to short out making a popping sound with bright blue and white light shooting out the top vent of my Kenmore double oven. The breaker tripped. I turned it back on and the lower oven works fine but no matter what the top oven is set on it will not heat. I don't see any obvious burned relays or other parts. Any ideas on where to start? Thanks!
1 Answer Hello Wayne, You should turn off the power and pull the bake element from the unit. Disconnect the wire from one side and make sure you can get test meter leads on the wire and the element end without shorting anything to ground. Make sure 120Vac is on both sides. If only one side has the voltage present, the other side of the circuit needs to be troubleshot for the4 trouble. Most of the time this turns out to be the relay on the control board but there is, in some cases, a thermal cutout that could be open. It appears that this one 318004900 is resettable so you should try pressing the button, (be sure the power is off since 120Vac will be on one side at all times power is supplied to the unit). Sometimes the button has to be wiggled to get it to reset. If this shows continuity, the board 316429800 will be the issue. Read More...
Mike February 23, 2014 for Model Number 79047773403 Neither lower, or upper elements get hot, the thermostat is good. Would the relay board be bad?
1 Answer Hello Mike. You need to make sure the thermal switches 318004900 are not tripped on the unit. If it is good, replace the control board on the unit. Read More...
Keith December 20, 2013 for Model Number PLEB30T9DCB The upper oven on my double oven does not heat at all. The bottom one works fine. Is there any easy way to tell if the problem is with the control panel board or the relay board?
1 Answer Hello Keith, You should first check the safety thermostat 318004900 which is manually re-settable and opens the circuit to the heating elements. It is recognized by a dark red button in the center of it. Be aware that the power to the unit should be off before attempting to reset this thermal cutout since power will be on one or both sides of it on the naked terminals. If it has not tripped and the element checks out good, the issue is now most likely the relay on the control 316429710. There will be one safety thermostat for each bake compartment. These are normally on the back of the unit. Read More...
Ray C October 14, 2013 for Model Number 790.47763400 I wired in a new cook top. It was on the same 220 electrical supply wire as my oven. Went I rewired the oven I wired it wrong. I smelled a burning electrical smell. I unplug the electical supply and re-wired right, then the oven would not come on. I need to know what parts I need to fix it. Thanks.
1 Answer Hello Ray. You will need to replace the control board for sure on the unit. As for other parts, you will have to test for power to them. If there is power there and the part does not work, you will need to replace that part. Read More...
Johnsons Creek May 15, 2013 for Model Number GLEB30T9DBB Our double oven work great until the dreaded F2 error code comes up. It beeps and beeps and beeps . We have to cut the power to it to get it to stop. Once it cools it is usually fine. Sometimes it comes back on all by itself. Broiling with the door open really sets it off. And summer it is worse when it is hot outside and in the house. Winter it works almost normal. Which part do I need?
1 Answer Johnsons Creek, The issue with the F2 error code and the unit coming on by itself would be in the main control board 316429710. Read More...
Deena B. April 24, 2011 for Model Number GLEB30T9DBB I have a double wall oven and both ovens will not heat anymore. Set temp to 400 and may get to 300 at most. Elements are working in both is this the main board that we need?
1 Answer Hello Deena. You will need to test the temperature probes 316217002, and make sure they are good. They should read around 1100 ohms at room temperature and 1600 ohms at 350°. If they are out of range they will need to be replaced. If they are good, then you could have a bad main board. Hope this helps. Read More...
