For Frigidaire Refrigerator Water Filter Bypass Cap (Part Number: OEM16823421)

Bryan, There is no "motor" involved when dispensing water from the fountain. Since the " ice maker still works " it's not likely a filter or filter base problem. You'll probably want to start by checking / replacing the water inlet valve 242252702 on the back of the refrigerator.

Hello Maryam. You do not need to replace the bypass filters unless they start leaking. They do not have to be replaced. Thank you.

Hello John, The filter bypass for the model provided is 242294402. Most Reverse Osmosis systems do not provide enough water pressure to properly close the water valve since the water pressure is all that closes the water valve. Most systems require the installation of a pump to increase the water pressure for this purpose. Be aware that the washing machine, dishwasher, and any other units with a water valve requires from 50 to 100 PSI of water pressure for normal operation to occur.

Rhonda, This would most likely be the water reservoir that is causing the water to have a foul odor and you may also want to use a filter in the unit.

I have a Frigidare three-door fridge hooked up to an RO system. Recently the fridge stopped making ice and the water dispenser flow became a trickle. I changed the filters on the RO unit and for literally about 20 seconds I had spectacular flow from the dispenser--then air in the line and then a trickle again. I replaced the fridge water filter with a plug in the hopes of bypassing that filter and relying only on the RO water--now I have no flow at all. I ordered the correct filter plug and have it installed correctly--but nothing. Any suggestions??

Elaine, The most likely problem is the filter base 240396002 was damaged sometime during the removal of the filter and installation of the bypass filter. The internal mechanism is most likely not allowing the water to flow through the filter base and into the water system of the refrigerator. When you attach a refrigerator water/dispenser system to a RO filter system, in most cases you will have to remove the water filter and install a bypass plug. The fluctuating water pressure, especially during the reversal process of the filter system wreaks havoc on the water system in the refrigerator.
