P.S.M. for Model Number Frigidaire FLSC238DS8

I had to take the water dispenser cover off (AP3954121) to remove some ice from the water line. When I did, I found that the three screws at the bottom that hold it in place were rusted out. In fact, the heads popped off the right and left screws, leaving the screw shafts in the plastic socket which is just behind the stainless surface. Only the center one is intact. Can I replace the mount that is inside the door, that these three screws screw into? Or is that an integral part of the freezer door that is not replaceable separately? It looks like the sockets are in the lower part of the large curved rear plastic piece that is inside the door, forming the back of the depressed area where you place a glass to fill with ice and/or water. If it is non-replaceable part of the door, should I try to drill out the two screw shafts and to put new screws in place?

Hello P.S.M., The screws go directly into the front of the door assembly. If you cannot get the screws out or start new screws into the space with them, the door assembly 241668503 will require replacement. I'm sorry but this part has been discontinued by the manufacturer and no satisfactory substitutions have been provided.

Hello William, Check the wiring harness at the hinge first. If it looks good, (no connector discolorations and wires inserted fully into connectors), make sure the freezer light is working. If it isn't, the door switch 241547902 can be the issue on this wiring configuration. If the door switch tells the control that the door is opened, the dispense area will receive no voltage. If this tests good, open the dispense cover and test for voltage. If voltage is present, replace the board 241708102. If no voltage is present check for broken wires that can make and break connection at the door hinge. The area that needs to be looked at critically is the part of the harness that bends back and forth with the opening and closing of the door.

Al, Here's some basic dispenser information. " Two gain access to the control area you will need to pull the drip tray out first. With the drip tray removed, remove the 3 screws at the bottomof the front panel. Lift up on the front panel, there are tabs on the top of the panel that slide into holes in the door panel. Swing panel out to side, being careful not to pull the wires out of the disconnect plug or the board itself. Carefully unplug the wiring harness from the touch panel on the front cover. This will give you access to the control board. On models with no selector on the front panel, when you remove the front you can gain access directly to dispenser because you do not have a touch pad or board on dispenser. On models with electronic control to gain access to the control, snap the light socket loose and remove the 6 small screws from the board.Pull board straight out of housing. Disconnect plug on left side of board. Disconnect 4 wires to dispenser actuator switches. With the board removed, remove the 3 screws from the dispenser housing and pull the dispenser forward.Remove water line from dispenser housing by pulling straight out. With the water line removed, the upper part of the dispenser is free of the freezer door panel. The main housing is part of the door panel, and is not removable." This should get you through the repair. Thanks and Good Luck

Hello Doreen. Pull out the drip tray. Then remove the screws across the bottom of the cover 241678703. Once removed, the cover will lift upwards and off the unit. Disconnect the power before doing the repair. Hope this helps.
