Lawrence S. August 15, 2019 for Model Number FRS6LF7JMO Tyler helped diagnose the bad damper. What happens if reuse the portion with the vent in it instead of digging the old one out and installing new. The old one appeared to be ok an same as the new one but nothing was said about that in the video.
1 Answer Hello Lawrence, It is recommended by the manufacturer to replace the complete assembly because an issue with the mechanical part of this damper door can cause an issue with the motor and actuating switches. This is why the assembly is available as an assembly and not as individual pieces. Read More...
Mike February 11, 2019 for Model Number FRS23R4AB7 Fridge is freezing food. I already replaced the thermostat (the one for freezer temp control as I understand this is the one that controls the cold air going into the fridge side...makes no sense to me but thats what I read!). The problem is still not solved, still freezing. I was then going to try the damper. I want to buy the damper only, however, wherever I plug in my model number it only shows me the entire control assembly for like $300. I have seen a damper that looks like mine under part number 241600906. Would this one work for my model? Aside from that, is there anything else it could be? I don't want to spend the money on the entire control panel but if I am going to just keep trying different parts (if its not the damper either), eventually I would have been cheaper to buy the whole assembly I assume). Thanks
1 Answer Mike, the issue could be either with the refrigerator thermostat, damper, or even the adaptive defrost kit. With this in mind, the whole assembly would be the best bet as it contains all of the possible parts that could have failed and is the only way to get two of the three parts [5304482075]. Jon H July 20, 2018 for Model Number Firgidaire JSI-23 side by side I have a side by side with cold freezer, warm fridge. I pulled the damper assembly and noticed some ice buildup but didn't seem significant enough to stop door from moving. However, the unit "clicks" and door stays closed even after I defrosted the part and reinstalled it. It has been making this slow click for a while. It is just recently that it appears to be stuck in closed position and getting warmer. Alarms started 2 days ago. Main question is - what part do I need for correct damper control? I'm guessing it is most likely the culprit. Thanks for your time j
1 Answer Jon, it sounds like the gear is stripped and the damper will need to be replaced , part number is 241600906 Read More...
Mike May 06, 2018 I heard a crackling sound coming from the dampener and the refrigerator side is too warm. The Freezer appears to be fine. I don't see any frost build up. There is a little bit of cold air coming from the freezer but I don't know how hard the condenser motor should be blowing. Is my issue with the dampener or the condenser motor or both?
1 Answer Mike, If the refrigerator is too warm and the damper making a clicking noise then this will be a faulty damper. Read More...
Patrick A April 09, 2018 for Model Number FRS23KF7AQ6 The damper assembly motor makes when it starts up. How do I know whether it is a 1 switch or 2 switch assembly. Your DIY video also shows how to replace it but the fridge in the video doesn't have a water filter assembly as mine does. Does that make a difference when replacing the damper assembly?
1 Answer Patrick, For this damper you would want to get the 2 switch part which is part number 241600902. Also the video would be the same for the damper assembly. Read More...
Tony March 12, 2018 for Model Number FRS26H5ASB9 DAMNPER WILL NOT FIT FLUSH WITH CABINET WALL; LEAKS TOO MUCH AIR BETWEEN CABINET WALL AND DAMPER.
1 Answer Hello Tony. You may need to reposition the damper into a better fitment to the opening. In some cases there is a small gap there, but it should not be enough to allow the food in the fresh food to freeze when the damper door is closed. Thank you. Read More...
Scott January 16, 2018 for Model Number GLHS66EJSB0 Hi guys, great website! My damper is making growling noises when operating, sounds like a bad bearing? I can feel it grinding also, so I know it's the damper motor. I have an ice make with water filter so this looks like an involved repair. I feel I'm up to it, but my question is, how do I know if I have a one or two switch damper control without taking it all apart first? Thx for your reply... Fridgidaire Model #GLHS66EJSB0 Ser#4A90112543
1 Answer Hello Scott. If the damper has never been replaced, it should be a 2 switch damper in the unit. If it has been replaced, then you will need to check it first. Thank you. Read More...
1 Answer Hello David. It is normal for things to freeze that are placed close to the damper. However, if it is excessive freezing, then the cold control 241537104 and damper 241600906 will need to be checked to see if they are bad in the unit. Thank you. Read More...
