Hello Finton. You need to unplug the unit and remove the screws securing the controls to the top of the unit. Also, remove the screws in the side cover for the damper. Once removed, drop the controls down and unsnap the side cover from the control panel. Now you can remove the side cover and replace the damper attached to the side cover.

Hello Jimmy. Usually it cools the freezer first, then opens for the fresh food. Let it run for about 8 hours and see if everything is cold like it should be. If so, the unit is working properly.

The refrigerator is making a noise that seems to be coming from the location of the damper assy. The noise stops as soon as the door is opened. The noise varies often but it sounds like something like a bearing going out. It is a whirling that varies in pitch and loudness. I thought I would need to replace the damper assy, but I wanted to ask first. Also, is there a way to repair the assy or do you have to replace the whole unit? Is the correct damper assy 241600906? Thanks for your help.

Hello Dave. If the noise id from the damper assembly in the unit, you need to replace it. Try holding the door switch closed and see if it makes the noise. If so, replace the damper.
