Questions & Answers

For Frigidaire Dishwasher Bottom Door Gasket (Part Number: OEM17429034)

Hello Maurya. The seal 809006501 can only be put into the door one way. It has a notch cut into it which fits over a plastic lip that exists only on one side of the seal slot in the door. Bottom of door is made to leak water around this bottom door seal, that's why the middle of this seal is cut out, to allow the water back into the main dishwasher tub. But, common problem is it allows too high a velocity of flow to come through and to splash out within the front door cover and down onto the floor. This must be why they made the "splash guard" kit 154701001. Make sure the seal is touching the bottom of the tub assembly. To install the brass nut, you will remove the wire and the old nut from the heater and screw the nut nut onto the heater and reinstall the wire. Hope this helps.

Hello Zaditac. Unless the dispenser is leaking, other than the splash shield kit 154701001, there are no other parts in the door that cause problems. Hope this helps!

I replaced the door seal and the tub gasket because of water leaking from the bottom of the door. The door continued to leak from the middle of the door. The seal only fits into the door slot one way, and it was properly seated. So I called a repairman. He was here 2 minutes. The seal is not meant to "seal" the door water tight, just hold off water that accumulates in the bottom of the tub if the float doesn't work. In our case, the sprayer arm had a hole in it and the water was spraying directly at the door. I replaced the sprayer arm and no more leaks. Hopefully this helps someone else get an answer without the added cost of the repairman.

Hello Kim. Great information. Always check your spray arms for crack or hole if you have a leak before replacing any seals 809006501. Glad you got it fixed. Thank you.

Hi Douglas. You need to use a putty knife and needle nose pliers to remove the old gasket. It should just pull out all together. Gasket part # 154827601. Use wd-40 spray to assist. yourself. Thank You.

Hello Ray. Unless the seal 809006501 is adjusted properly, it will leak. It has to make contact with the tub on the bottom, but still allow enough room in the middle for the water to flow back into the tub. These can be very hard to adjust correctly, and may require several adjustments to get correct. Hope this helps.

Saw all the other question posts and thought I'd sum it up and add my experiences. The seal can only be put into the door one way. It has a notch cut into it which fits over a plastic lip that exists only on one side of the seal slot in the door. No brainer. Bottom of door is made to leak water around this bottom door seal (that's why the middle of this seal is cut out... to allow the water back into the main dishwasher tub). But, common problem is it allows too high a velocity of flow to come through and to splash out within the front door cover and down onto the floor. This must be why they made the "splash guard" kit (AP4338941) which you will definitely need and which is what fixed my leakage problem. IMHO it's a terrible design, but this is what we have to work with.

Hello Neal. Usually the new seal 809006501 leaks because it is not properly adjusted. If installed properly, the leak will stop on the unit. Hope this helps.

I am afraid I cannot understand the answers here. My seal as well is installed with the center gap facing down (when the door is closed), which I assume is the same as 'facing the tub'. Based on the answer to Derics question, this would be correct. However, the answer to Wake G.s question says it should be installed "as seen in the diagram." What diagram? If referring to the picture at the top of the page that has the gap on the top? Please just tell me if the gap should be on the top or bottom.

Hello Jim. If you remove the screws around the inner panel, you can remove the front panel, and access and replace the bottom door seal 809006501. If you need to remove the line completely, you will remove the screws securing it to the hinges. Hope this helps.

Hello Wayne! Yes, the right side will be as you are facing the dishwasher looking in. Thanks.
