Greg January 06, 2013 for Model Number GLRS234ZAW1 Do I need the auger assembly for the ice maker to work? I removed the whole system months ago to get rid of the death rattle, ordered a replacement ice maker (#5303918277) from APP a few days ago and installed it - no ice. I can't finder the AA anywhere...must have tossed it out in anger, but the new maker doesn't make. Checked the lines for blockage and freezing but no dice. Ideas? Maybe the water coupling is dead; should I check it? C'mon APP; you're the best! Greg
1 Answer Hello Greg, You should check to see if you are getting 120 vac to the water valve when the unit calls for water. If you are getting power to the valve then you will need to replace valve. If no power then you will have to check to find where you are loosing power. Also double check to make sure that you have water to unit. Read More...
Patricia L January 04, 2013 for Model Number Frigidaire FRS 6LF7JB0 My ice maker will not crush ice, but will dispense the regular cubes. It just started last night when a piece of plastic fell out in a drink - that looks like it may be part of something that crushes the ice. I don't know how to work on the entire thing that holds the ice so do I just need to get another ice holder "thingy" assembly to fix this problem? I WANT crushed ice again. Thanks so much for your help. North Carolina
1 Answer Hello Patricia, To not have to take the crusher bin apart then you can replace the enitre assembly 241860801. What has happened is the door that stays closed to send into crusher is more than likely broken off. This part comes with the crusher. Read More...

Rita July 16, 2011 for Model Number 253.54739301 I have the same problem as Yarnie above. The auger turns, but the drum and drive bar don't turn. Is the drive bar supposed to be welded or otherwise fastened to the auger, and is the drive bar supposed to somehow be fastened into the groves on the plastic drum? If so, what fastens these three parts together?
1 Answer Hi Rita. A few tips. Yes all these parts are to turn together. The ice bin needs to be removed, cleaned and dried once a month or so so ice chips do not build up and freeze. Holding parts together and breaking them. Make sure the ice bin is fully inserted into the auger motor teeth for proper operation. The ice bin assembly is part # 241860801. Thank you. Read More...

Guest March 15, 2011 My ice maker is not making ice consistently, 1 tray of ice every 6-8 hours. I have vacuumed the coils and replaced the filter, still no ice. The water dispenser is dispensing, there is no condensation or moisture, temperature is perfect in the fridge and the freezer. None of the troubleshooting tips apply. However, when you open both doors, the center exterior of the fridge is HOT to the touch, what would this indicate?
1 Answer Hello. Check the condenser fan motor and make sure it is running properly. Hope this helps. Read More...
