The Ice Maker Assembly is an OEM part for Frigidaire refrigerators. It is responsible for automatically producing batches of ice through a process of freezing water into cube form. The ice maker works in conjunction with the refrigerator's freezer compartment and water supply line to perform its ice production function.

Symptoms of a faulty ice maker include:

  • Failure to produce ice cubes
  • Oddly shaped, sparse, or chunky ice output
  • Leaks or water pools in the freezer
  • Strange noises coming from the ice maker area
  • Error codes shown regarding ice maker performance

Causes of a bad ice maker assembly can include issues with components like the mold heater, water valve, or agitator that are vital to the freezing process. Improper refrigeration temperatures or clogs preventing water flow can also negatively impact ice production.

This OEM Frigidaire part can also be used on Electrolux, Frigidaire, Gibson, Kelvinator, Westinghouse, and Sears/Kenmore.

For Frigidaire Refrigerator Ice Maker Assembly (Part Number: OEM20986131)

Mike for Model Number Kenmore

I replaced my ice maker with part # 243297609 (purchased from your site August 2020) it cycles and makes ice of uniform size the only problem is it has stated leaking a small amount of water down into fridge from left side of ice maker when it fills. It does not happen all the time but enough that I leave a small plastic container. Water is always leaks in same spot. My thought is that one of the cubes is not leaving tray during harvest and causing water to over flow on fill cycle. Any thoughts or assistance would be appreciated.

1 Answer

Nike, The plastic mold of the ice maker could be cracked and when it twists during a cycle it doesn't release that cube. A new ice maker would need to be ordered if that is your findings.243297613

Richard, Look for water dripping from the icemaker and if there is not then this will most likely be caused by a faulty water valve.

Carlos, it is recommended that the back of the ice maker section is inspected for any ice build-up as this can indicate an air leak. If there is an air leak, the air handling kit 5303918784 would need to be replaced. If there is not an air leak, the next step would be to identify if the auger fan motor 5304493604 is operating properly and if the evaporator is iced up. If the evaporator is iced up and the fan is operating, the defrost heater 140068083116 behind the auger motor would need to be tested for 188O.

My ice maker won't make ice. I replaced the ice maker with 243297606. The ice maker diagnostics all pass. As far as I can tell, the issue is that the fresh food ice maker is not getting cold enough. The diagnostics show it at anywhere between 20 degrees and 47 degrees, depending when I check it. I used a hair dryer to defrost the coils and fan behind the ice maker, fan spins and all seems to work as it should. In fact, if I use the diagnostic screen to put water in the ice mold, it quickly freezes. When I use the diagnostic screen to dump the tray, it does as it should. I can manually run the whole cycle, but it will not go automatically.

1 Answer

Hello Brian, based on your testing, the ice maker is working correctly as per the test mode but not getting cold enough as measured by the ice maker thermistor to cycle in normal operation, since the ice maker has its own evap coil, this may be a ice maker evap fan problem or a ice maker evap defrost heater problem, if both are testing ok then replace the main control board.

John, it is very possible that the fill tube is not aligned with the ice maker fill-cup. If the model number could be provided in a new inquiry, this will allow for the most accurate diagnostic information to be presented.

Michael Abrahams for Model Number Frigidaire Refrigerator FFHB2750TS6

My ice maker seems to be unable to make ice as fast as it has been. We just replaced the filter a few months ago. The ice maker is 243297609. I ran this diagnostics: " .. go to the display panel of your freezer and hold the up arrow (^) and (+) button simultaneously for 10 seconds. This will but the ice maker in diagnostic mode. Once in diagnostic mode, the display panel shows you on the right-hand side 52C meaning you are running the “Ice Maker Thermistor” test. On the left-hand side, you see the temperature of the ice maker, such as 0°F. If your display shows an “OP,” then this means you have an open thermistor, requiring you to replace your ice maker as your thermistor can not accurately sense the temperature of the ice maker ... " It did display a 25 degree farenheit # . The refrigerator temp is set at 39 degrees. So I assume since we did not get an OP display that means the thermistor is fine. What could be the issue?

1 Answer

Michael A, It sounds like the freezer temp may be running a little high, I would check for cooling issues or defrost issues.

James for Model Number LFHB2751TF5

I have a Frigidaire LFHB2751TF5. I am not getting water in my ice maker and the arm seems to be stuck in the up position and has not moved since connecting to water supply. We originally had it connected to water via a self-piercing saddle valve but the pressure was super low. We switched to a different type of water feed (from the kitchen faucet supply line) and the pressure is great now. I have tried turning off the fridge and turning it back on, unplugging it from power several times but the ice maker arm remains up and the tray hasn't filled with water. I also unplugged the wires from the ice maker and then reattached them. Still no success in having the tray fill with water or the arm moving from up position.

1 Answer

James. If the fan behind the ice maker is not running then the ice box may not be cold enough to cycle the ice maker. Make sure ice hasnt formed in the rear of the ice box blocking the fan from running. If this is the case then clear all the ice by removing the ice maker and rear cover and ice box housing and replace the gasket set. 5303918784

Hello Bill, in checking the ref model's Usage booklet there is no option for changing the ice cube size esp since the ice maker controls the water valve for fill directly. The ice selections are only for dispense of cube or crush.
