The Ice Maker Assembly is an OEM part for Frigidaire refrigerators. It is responsible for automatically producing batches of ice through a process of freezing water into cube form. The ice maker works in conjunction with the refrigerator's freezer compartment and water supply line to perform its ice production function.

Symptoms of a faulty ice maker include:

  • Failure to produce ice cubes
  • Oddly shaped, sparse, or chunky ice output
  • Leaks or water pools in the freezer
  • Strange noises coming from the ice maker area
  • Error codes shown regarding ice maker performance

Causes of a bad ice maker assembly can include issues with components like the mold heater, water valve, or agitator that are vital to the freezing process. Improper refrigeration temperatures or clogs preventing water flow can also negatively impact ice production.

This OEM Frigidaire part can also be used on Electrolux, Frigidaire, Gibson, Kelvinator, Westinghouse, and Sears/Kenmore.

David, This icemaker does not have a test button on it but if you get the tech sheet from under the front of the unit there should be a diagnostic mode that will allow you to test the icemaker functions.

Hello Jay, you'll want to make sure the ice maker compartment is defrosting, as it sounds like it could be a temperature issue on why the icemaker is not cycling properly. Hope this helps!

Paul, We are sending you a tech sheet where you can test all parts of your ice maker. My assumption is the fan behind the ice maker is frozen up and not circulating air. This would prevent the ice maker from cycling. In the center section of the first page follow the instructions to activate the fresh food ice maker diagnostic guide. The main concern is the fan and keep in mind if you try and fill the ice maker with ice in the mold it will overflow so initiate the twist tray first to dump any ice. Remove the ice bucket and keep the door open so you can see and hear better what's going on in there. If the fan is frozen up you will probably need a seal kit because of refrigerator air leaking into the icebox area.5303918784

Carl, No you cannot "force the bail arm into a position, but you do have to release the bail arm from the "locked/off" position. Just lightly press down on the bail arm until you feel it release from the internal stop, then the ice maker should start to cycle. Remember to "dump" the first few batches of ice cubes.

Hello Carl, it sounds like the icemaker part number 243297613 is defective since the arm should not stay in a full position. Thanks!

Sharon, you will need to replace the entire icemaker, the plastic tray is not offered as a separate part number by the manufacturer.

Shane, you may want to check to make sure that water is not continuously dripping from the water fill tube as this can cause the ice tray to overfill. If it is leaking by, you would want to change out the water valve. Another thing you may want to check is the water pressure. If the water pressure is not within tolerance, it can cause the valve solenoid to not engage and disengage properly.

Mike, Has anyone checked the water pressure to the refrigerator at the water inlet valve. with an icemaker, water dispenser and reservoir and a filter you want /need to have 32 to 35 PSI for the system to maintain and work properly. check and flush the supply line, and make sure there aren't too many sharp bends or kinks in the line. Has anyone checked or replaced the ice maker cover/housing ? or checked and filled any gaps between the housing and the refrigerator walls ?

Ken, Check to make sure no evaporator fingers are bent and the mold moves to the fingers. There were some issues with the fingers being bent on these units. If the fingers are bent you would need a certified refrigeration tech out to repair your product.
