The Frigidaire handle and latch assembly is an OEM replacement part responsible for securing and latching the dishwasher door when it is closed for a wash cycle. This part is typically located on the front panel of the dishwasher, near the top of the door. It ensures that the dishwasher door remains securely closed during operation, preventing water and steam from escaping the interior.

Causes of a bad handle and latch assembly can include repeated use leading to wear and tear, accidental damage from forceful closing or opening, or internal mechanical failures. If the assembly is compromised, the dishwasher may not start, or it could leak during cycles.

Symptoms of a bad handle and latch assembly include:

  • Difficulty in opening or closing the dishwasher door
  • The door not latching properly
  • The dishwasher not starting or pausing mid-cycle
  • Water leakage from the door during operation

This OEM replacement is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator, and Kenmore models.

For Frigidaire Handle And Latch Assembly (Part Number: OEM17007846)

Patty for Model Number FDB1250REC2

The previous owners of our home said the dishwasher worked fine for them, but it never has for us. It will do one load and does a great job. The green light by clean is on at the end of the cycle. When I try to do the next load, the dishwasher will not start when I push the start button. I have to turn the breaker off and back on. The lights will be flashing, I press clear and all lights go out. Then I can press start and it washes the load. There seems to be a lot play in the latch at times and it is hard to latch. Do you think replacing the latch is all it needs, or are there other parts we need to replace? It is just odd that flipping the breaker allows it to work if the latch is bad. Thanks for your answer.

Hello Patty, the selector pushbuttons are getting stuck and lock up the control board, resetting the circuit breaker just resets the control board and allows anther cycle to be run, the buttons are part of the control board assembly 154568301.

Bunnie Girl for Model Number GLDB756AS0

Hello my door switch/latch on my Frigidaire dishwasher has broken/is loose and is not returning/or springing back in to position. The operation of the dishwasher is not effected, meaning the electrical part of the switch is not bad, just the plastic handle piece. Is switch replacement my only option? And if so is part A00099902 the correct part to fix? My local dealer is selling the correct switch in a kit with a door gasket. I don't need the gasket. That part number is: 5304442173 Thanks you Pros you!

1 Answer

Bunnie Girl, the manufacturer shows the handle as only being available in the latch kit which includes the gasket. The latch kit in white would be part number 5304442175, and the kit in black would be part number 5304442175.

Steve for Model Number 587.15262900

I recently purchase a door latch assembly (A00099901) for my Kenmore dishwasher. I installed it no problem, but I didn't take note of which terminal the black connector wires attach to when I took it apart. Should the black wires be on the left or the right? I've found videos online indicating it should be left/right or it doesn't matter. Right now I have them on the right and the dishwasher appears to be working fine. Just worried about it exploding or something.

1 Answer

Hello Steve, As long as both black wires are on one switch and both white wires are on the other, it will work normally.

Jennifer, It would be recommended to check the door strike to make sure that it did not shift but it does sound like the issue will be a faulty door latch assembly.

Jeffrey, This issue would most likely not be with the latch but sounds more likely a control board issue with the unit.

Hello Jeffrey, You will first need to remove the kickpanel and make sure there are no loose wire nuts in the power connection box on the dishwasher. From here we will need to please ask you to post a new question including the model number from your units' I.D. tag so we can pull the technical information on your unit for proper diagnosis and recommend parts that can be guaranteed to work properly on your unit. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.
