The Drive Motor is an OEM part for Frigidaire washing machines. This component is essential for powering the washing machine's drum, enabling it to agitate and spin during the wash and rinse cycles. It ensures that clothes are thoroughly cleaned and properly spun dry.

Common causes of a bad drive motor include wear and tear from frequent use, overheating due to heavy loads, electrical issues such as power surges, and physical damage from impact or mishandling.

Symptoms of a bad drive motor include:

  • The washing machine not spinning or agitating
  • Loud, unusual noises during operation
  • The washer not starting or stopping mid-cycle
  • Burning smell or visible signs of motor overheating

This OEM replacement is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator, and Kenmore models.

Questions & Answers

For Frigidaire Drive Motor (Part Number: OEM9658536)

1 Answer

Bob, the speed switch 134404200 would need to be tested for continuity when set to normal agitate and normal spin. There should be continuity from terminal 2 to terminal 5, and from terminal 4 to terminal 5. There should not be continuity at any other terminal sets. If the switch fails, it will need to be replaced. If the switch passes, the spin basket and tub will need to be inspected for obstructions. From there, the drive belt 134511600 would need to be inspected for excessive wear. If these all check good, then it is likely that the motor 134159500 is failing.

Hello Samantha, I would check the brake as it appears it could be engaged when the motor is engaged. The brake on this model is actually part of the transmission assembly 134735700. You should also pull the spin basket and make sure nothing is between the inner and outer tubs while verifying the integrity of the trunion bolt tightness.

Hello Phillip. You will need to check the strike 131390000 and see if it is bad on the unit. If it is broke, it will cause the issue. Also, if it is good, then the pressure switch may be bad and prevent the unit from starting.

Hello Steve. You will have to replace the motor 8581341966035 in the unit to repair it. As for if the motors are the same, they are not. The washer uses a different motor.
