The Door Lock Motor and Switch Assembly is an OEM component specifically designed for Frigidaire ranges. This locking system safely secures oven doors during cleaning or self-clean cycles through the electromagnetic operation.

Symptoms of a defective assembly include:

  • Failure to engage or release the door lock function
  • Loud buzzing or grinding noises from internal mechanisms
  • Error codes related to door lock detection problems

Causes relate to wear from continual operation of locking solenoids over extended use. Exposure to cooking residues and cleaning chemicals can deteriorate switches.

This OEM Frigidaire part is also compatible with some Kenmore and GE appliance brands. Replacing worn components restores reliable door locking to automatically secure during high-heat cycles. Timely maintenance preserves safety functionality.

Questions & Answers

For Frigidaire Door Lock Motor And Switch Assembly (Part Number: OEM21053208)

Mad mama, it is possible that the door switch 316445500 is not being activated fully by the door. It would be recommended that the door is inspected for any indicator that the hinge may not be aligned properly as this can cause the door to not close fully to press the door switch in completely.

David for Model Number 79094243311

Kenmore Stove Model 79094243311 After using self clean feature, gave error F15 and the door was locked. I held the stop button, twice, for 3 seconds. Now I have error msg OPN. Door still locked. My research says, the clean feature over heats the control board. I unplugged the stove for an hour. Plugged in, door opens, but still have error OPn and oven won’t start because it thinks the door is open. Is there a fuse link, door censor, or micro switch that will help. A $250 board just isn’t worth it. Thx !

Hello Leon, This can be caused by a bad door lock motor 318095956, a bad clock assembly 318010700, or the door lock could just be out of time with the clock. If this is the case, it can normally be put back into time by starting a clean cycle by unplugging the motor halfway through the cycle and plug it back in so it will be in time when energized next time. I'm sorry but this part 318010700 has been discontinued by the manufacturer and no satisfactory substitutions have been provided. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Herbert for Model Number FEFL89CCA

I tried to start a clean cycle and got an F9 error code. I took the back off and removed the door latch motor. I checked the micro switches and they tested okay. I put the door latch motor back on and checked for continuity at the connector to the oven control board. The Gray and adjacent orange wire had continuity when cam depressed the lock switch micro switch and no continuity when open. The Gray and next orange (at least it looks orange but may be another shade) are for the oven door switch. There is no continuity when the door is open and there is when the door is closed. If I power the oven up with everything connected, the door latch motor runs continuously, causing the latch to open and close. After about a minute the board will stop the motor and display the f9 code. The clock and the door locked indicator flash while the motor runs. You can push clear to start the process again. What is the problem?

Hello Herbert, This is most likely a stuck relay on the control board 316207620 causing 120Vac to be sent to the door lock motor continuously.

Jim,. You will want to access the control board and test to see if there is 120 vac going out from the control board to the door lock. This can be checked from the MDL on the control board to N. If there is not 120 vac then the motor would be the issue. If there is 120 vac then the issue will be the door lock assembly. The control board part number is 316101103 and the door lock is 5304449471.

Rafael, To test the switch on the door lock assembly you would just check for continuity. When the switch is pushed in there should be continuity to it. It sounds like the issue could be a motor that has failed in which you could try to put the unit into self clean and see if the motor gets power to it. If the unit starts the self clean then test for 120 vac getting to the motor. If there is no voltage then it would be a faulty control board and if there is voltage the motor.

Aarich, The F90 error code indicates that the maximum oven door unlock time was exceeded. 1. Check the wiring between EOC and lock motor micro switch. 2. Replace the motor door latch assembly. 3. Check for binding of the latch cam, lock motor rod and lock motor cam. 4. Check to see if lock motor coil is open. If open, replace lock motor assembly. 5. Lock motor continuously runs- if micro switch is open, replace lock motor assembly 6. (F92, 93, 94 and 95) check oven door light switch- if open, replace switch. 7. If all situations above do not solve problem, replace EOC.

John, The wires (White and Brown) to the motor will not need to be polarized, so the wire location won't really matter. But the wires to the micro switch have to be properly located and attached to the terminals. The gray wire should attach to the "com" terminal of the switch and the copper/orange wire needs to be attached to the "NO" terminal on the switch. The switch tells the control that the door is locked or unlocked, and control can enter the bake / broil or the self clean cycle when programmed.

Robert, In order to remove the latch motor for your unit, you will need to pull the unit out and remove the rear cover of the unit. The motor can be accessed from there.
