For Frigidaire Temperature Control (Part Number: OEM6435945)

LJ, You will want to check the damper assembly on this unit as it sounds like the damper 215011503 is stuck in the open position and will not close off causing the freezing issue. Also make sure that there is nothing blocking the damper assembly which would force cold air down the back wall of the unit and would cause freezing.

Edward, The first thing that you will want to check is the coils in the freezer to check to see if they are impacted with frost. If they are you will want to test the defrost thermostat and defrost heater for continuity. If there is continuity then the parts are good and you will need the defrost control board. If either of those do not have continuity then it is bad and will need to be replaced.

Hi changed the defrost timer and defrost thermostat and noticed the defrost heater didn't turn on. so i bypassed the defrost thermostat plugged the defrost heater into the wires and heating element turned on. i noticed that also the drain was clogged so cleaned that plus the condenser underneath. but my problem seems to be every side is slighty cold but evaporator ices up within minutes only at the top section? clogged refrigerant line?drain tube water seems oily(leak?) Hello Ramon. If it is only icing at the top coils you have a sealed system failure and will need an HVAC tech to repair the unit.

Hello Kerry. It sounds like you may have a defrost problem with the unit. Check and see if there is any frost build up on the evaporator coils in the freezer. If so, you will need to test the defrost heater and the defrost thermostat. They should read closed for continuity when cold. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. I will include a link at the end to assist you how to use the multi-meter if needed. If both parts are good, you will need to replace the control board. Once the problem is repaired, you will need to thaw out the ice on the coils before the unit will operate properly. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Ruben, You will want to pull the back cover off in the freezer compartment and check the frost pattern on the evaporator coils. If there is no frost at all on the coils or if there is very little frost on the first part of the coils where they enter the freezer, then either the compressor is not pumping refrigerant, there is a sealed system leak or there is a restriction in the sealed system. If the coils are impacted with ice then there is a defrost system failure.

Michael for Model Number FRS26ZSHB2

Unit was running OK for a few days, then the temperature in both freezer and fresh food sections became warm. If I unplug the unit and/or turn the freezer control off then back on, it would work again for a few days, then get warm again. So I cleaned the condenser coils, tested the door seals, replaced the bi-metal switch, tested the defrost heater and it works. Now the temperature in the fresh food section is good, about 40°F. Temperature in freezer is about 10°F at the top (near ice maker) and -20 deg F at bottom. Compressor, condenser fan, and evaporator fan run constantly. I did hear them kick off for a bit but now running again constantly. Freezer and fresh food compartments near empty. Are the temperatures in the freezer normal? I did order the defrost timer, but have not replaced it. Can it be the defrost timer or temperature controller or something else? Thanks, Michael

Hello Michael, The temperature control 5303300027 could be an issue since discontinuing power and reconnecting makes the unit cool back down. The lower part of the sections being colder than the top indicates an air circulation issue. Possibly the evaporator fan motor 5303299165 has failed. This sounds like you have two issues at once.
