The Control Thermistor is an OEM part for Frigidaire dryers. This component plays a critical role in regulating the temperature inside the dryer by monitoring the internal conditions and sending temperature data to the control board. The control board then uses this information to adjust the heat cycle, ensuring clothes dry evenly and safely.

Symptoms of a failing control thermistor include:

  • Clothes not drying properly or cycles running too hot or too cold
  • Frequent stopping or starting of the dryer
  • Error messages related to temperature or sensor issues displayed on the control panel

Causes of control thermistor failure generally involve faulty wiring, accumulation of lint and debris affecting the sensor's accuracy, or wear and tear from regular use that leads to degradation of the sensor components.

This OEM replacement is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator, and Kenmore models.

Questions & Answers

For Frigidaire Control Thermistor (Part Number: OEM11600535)

Hiwaystar, the flashing is going to indicate an error code and the number of times the lights flash indicate a specific error code. The number of times the 5 lights flash before pausing would be needed as well as how many times the start button flashes. This will allow the identification of what error is being shown.

Candy for Model Number Sears Kenmore 417 8405 2500

15 year old Sears Kenmore electric dryer. Dries inconsistently. It's label on the front says it has a Balanced Drying System and Moisture Sensor. Neither seems to be working, if I understand their purpose correctly. The heat varies on all settings, from clothes being still very damp on the end of their cycles to almost burning towels on the Towels setting. Also, the outside top of the drying gets very hot; almost burns my hand if I touch it once the drying has been running for more than 1 hour. Thank you for your help. I looked at the parts on line that I thought may be the problem, but not sure. Also, at its age, it may make more sense to purchase a new dryer. ?

Brian, You will want to check to make sure that the rollers are not seized up. Look for any type of drag on the motor that will cause it to overheat and shut down.

Hello Jimbo, depending how far out of spec the thermistor is the control board may prevent the dryer from heating or from starting.

Hello Alva, this model does not use an inlet thermistor so the lack of a reading in test 6 is correct. You would need a multimeter for further testing. Start with whether there is 120v going into the burner circuit on orange to black wires,if not orange is 120v from the board heater relay and black is the neutral thru the motor load switch. If there is 120v test the radiant sensor is closed, check the ignitor and the burner coils.

Jim, thanks for the question, your dryer uses a thermister instead of a thermostat, the part number is 134587700, it is located on the front of the blower housing.

Dan for Model Number FASG7073LW0 frigidaire affinity gas dryer

The dryer heats up well, but the clothes come out smelling of burnt gas, burnt gas smelled from outside building from exhaust tube. NO gas smell when dryer is off. The vent tube has been cleaned, the thermistor in the front (near blower) is good, the exhaust thermistor (on the exhaust vent is good). The diagnostic code reads E F2 (I checked it multiple times and it always reads E F2). Any help would be appreciated, thanks

Dan, Any of the EF codes will be a restricted vent, exhaust thermistor, inlet thermistor or a control board that is faulty. Double check venting and since the others check ok then this will be a faulty main control board.

Robert, Based on your post information, you have more than one problem. No, a "bad" thermistor would not cause the dryer to"continue to run, dryer will stop when door is open" This is most likely due to a "stuck" motor relay on the control board. The resistance on the heater element should be 10 to 12 ohms, so the heater itself is OK. The control Thermistor is rated at 50K ohms resistance at room temp.(77 dgrs.F.) you want to reset your meter to a higher resistance range and recheck the thermistor resistance, If it remains at no resistance or an open circuit, the thermistor will need to be replaced. it would be the cause of the no heat situation, based on your information.

Ed, You will want to check the venting of your unit from the blower housing to the outside of your home as this would be the most likely cause for the unit to take longer to dry than normal.
