Marvin March 20, 2014 for Model Number Kenmore 41788042700 When I start dryer cycle, dryer starts and runs about 15 seconds then shuts down all lights start to blink of panel. Once I hit cancel then goes back to normal. If I hit start again then same thing occurs. When I touch back of dryer the cage is very hot to touch after running only 10 seconds.
1 Answer Hello Marvin. Check for bad wiring on the unit. If none is found, then check the motor and see if it is overheating. If so, replace the motor. If not, then the control will need to be replaced. Read More...
Chris March 01, 2014 for Model Number 41788042700 I have a dryer model 41788042700 - it is getting too hot drying clothes! My lint tube is new and clean! I have changed the high limit thermistor and the thermal limiter. It seems that the heat stays on way too long before it cycles. Could it be the thermistor control ?
1 Answer Hello Chris. Yes, if the thermistor is bad, it could cause this, and it will need to be replaced on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Mark January 11, 2014 for Model Number 41788042700 I am totally stumped, please help. This Kenmore/Frigidaire dryer (41788042700) had a flakey control board. Replaced with refurbished board from "P S" and still had odd flashing lights and malfunctioning. They accepted a return. Then, replaced with NEW, not refurb, board 137008010 from a different major vendor. Now, dryer will run but not heat in any operational mode but WILL heat when in "Function Test" mode. Can hear heater control relay click on and off during Function Test but not during normal operation. Thermistor measures 51K at 74 deg. F. High limit stat has continuity. Heating element glows bright during Function Test. Panel lights blink appropriately when Contact moisture sensor bars tested normal as per troubleshooting guide during Function Test. Control panel lights flash and track temperature changes during Function Test. Thermistor resistance changes smoothly when Thermistor removed and heated with outside heat source. About 18K ohms at 100 deg. Thermistor is clean with no cracks, burns or loose terminals. NO error codes either during "normal operation" or when placed in "Test Mode". "Cleared" codes just for the heck of it and no heat problem persists. Motor switch must be working since there is head during Function Test. No loose or broken wires. No lint build up in any part of dryer or venting. No funny noises. Somehow, the heater relay is not closing during normal operation even though there does not seem to be any reason why it shouldn't close. So, any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
1 Answer Mark, You will want to do a voltage check at the main control board on the heater relay. Put the unit into a normal drying cycle and check for 120 vac at the NO on the relay. If there is not 120 vac then the control board is bad and would need to be replaced. If there is power then start checking for 120 vac to the element. on the control side and then check for 120 vac on the motor side. When you test these disconnect one wire so you do not get feed through. Then test the wire and then the element. Also check for voltage drop and make sure that the voltage is not dropping below 215vac when the unit is running. Read More...
John W January 06, 2014 for Model Number LGHC2342LFO Frigidaire refrigerator Refrigerator set at 35 degrees and stays there. Freezer is set at 0 degrees and goes down to -14 degrees Fahrenheit. Also, it seems to be intermittent. The cover to the icemaker was not installed correctly. I corrected it and temp came up to 0. Then a day later was back at -14. I started to open it up to see if I could see anything obvious. Unplugged it and it again came up to 0. I figure it must be either the main board or a thermistor, but would appreciate any comments as to how to troubleshoot and where the thermistor is located. John
1 Answer John, This issue would most likely be caused by a faulty thermistor. If the thermistor is cracked or has collected moisture inside it will cause this type of issue. Read More...
Ross December 31, 2013 for Model Number FEFB9200ES0 Electric dryer is not drying clothes thoroughly on auto cycle. I just replaced felt seals and bearing due to noisy operation. The test reading on the thermistor is 72k ohms. I just got a replacement one and checked resistance before installing. It reads 62k ohms. Could the new one be defective?
1 Answer Hello Ross. No, the reading is determined by the temp of the part. Install it and see if the unit works properly. 10K is a big difference between the 2 parts. Read More...
Cameron December 18, 2013 for Model Number 11085091401 I have a Kenmore smart pak 9 dryer that no longer heats up. Using the tech sheet, I went through the steps to trouble shoot. everything has checked out good until I got to step #5. Measure the resistance between p2-5 and p2-6 at the control board. If it measures at less than 1k I am to replace the thermistor and if it is between 6-7 k ohms I am to replace the machine control electronics. It measures out at 12.8 k ohms. What does that mean?
1 Answer Cameron, Based on the reading that you are getting on the P2 terminal pin 5 to 6 you will need to replace the control board. Read More...
Mike December 05, 2013 for Model Number affinity gas dryer FASG7074LWO My affinity dryer had blown thermistor on burner side. I replaced it and it blew again. I replaced it again and thermostat on burner side and thermistor still blew again. The machine will run on low heat if I bypass the thermistor. When taking it apart for third time I forgot to unplug (I know stupid right) and accidently touched the lamp wire to the cabinet and caused the whole dryer to go dead. Now I have a dead dryer with a blown thermistor. I cleaned out ducts and checked all other thermostat and limiter on the exhaust side. Checked out ok My questions are 1)did I blow the main board when I caused an arc with the lamp wire and is that why I have a dead dryer 2) can a bad board cause the the thermistor to blow as well? 3) If I replace board and thermistor should I be Ok? 4) HELP. my wife wants her dryer!
1 Answer Hello Mike. It does sound like you blew the control board. As for the thermistor, it sounds like a venting issue. Check the blower wheel on the unit and try running it without the vent pipe hooked to it. Read More...
Tom November 07, 2013 for Model Number LAQE7000LW0 My dryer keeps getting an error code E-64. How and where should I start looking for problems? I've read online answers but still not sure where I should start.
1 Answer Hello Tom, This fault code indicates one of the heating element circuits are open. This is not just the element but the element circuits. These include the thermal fuses and thermostats. The complete circuits need to be checked. You can use the tech sheet and a test meter to find the trouble. The unit should be disconnected from the power supply during the testing process. Dan October 16, 2013 for Model Number FASG7074LW0 My Frigidaire Affinity dryer model FASG7074LW0 was displaying an error code E71 so I purchased the Thermistor listed on your site for this model 134587700 (AP3866842). My confusion is that the wiring diagram on your site and my Dryer Tech Data Sheet list this part as a 5k ohm thermistor but the replacement part that I purchased is a 50k ohm thermistor. Am I missing something? Thanks.
1 Answer Hello Dan. the thermistor 134587700 can be used up to 50K. Your model only uses 5K. It is the correct one for the model number provided. Read More...
Chuck September 30, 2013 for Model Number FAQE7072LW0 My Electric Frigidaire Dryer only heats for 5 to 8 minutes then blows cold air. I get Error code E64. What does this mean? Any help would be appreciated.
1 Answer Chuck, The E64 error code is for an open heater circuit. Check the heater coils and connections for open circuits and replace heater and/or wiring and retest. Read More...
