Gundalf September 25, 2013 for Model Number feq1442eso This dryer works normally with heat on, but when it has been running for enough time to get hot, it starts getting noisy (loud roaring sort of sound) and the rear heating area on the rear of drum gets hot enough to burn your fingers when you touch it. When you turn the heat off it cools and runs quietly again... I've totally cleaned the entire vent system from intake to outside with no improvement. There was a wad of hair and lint on the fan blades and the center shaft that seemed like it could cause the fan to slow and cause overheating. I removed it and it seemed to improve things but the problem still came back. I tested the heating element and it registered .011on the ohm meter, with no shorts. I tested the high limit thermostat and it was closed but opened when placed on a hot frying pan. HELP!!!
1 Answer Hello Gundalf. You need to replace the rear bearing kit 5303281153 and the front felt seal 134440200 to repair the unit. It is normal for the back by the element to get that hot and the reason nothing should be put behind the dryer. Read More...
Jamie August 18, 2013 for Model Number LEQ7000ES1 Recently the door latch on my dryer broke. At the same time it was broken, the heat also stopped working. I am wondering if I broke it by attempting to duct tape the door shut and run it. When running the dryer with the door duct taped shut it would run for about 10 minutes, then all three status lights would blink and the cycle would stop. After about 10 attempts at trying it this way, I noticed the heat wasn't working. My question is if the door not being sealed would narrow down what part of the heating process I screwed up and need to replace. Or if the lack of door seal probably has nothing to do with it and I instead need to figure out another method to narrow down which part is in need of replacement. Thanks for your help!
1 Answer Hello Jamie. No, you have 2 issues and the door affecting the heat is not one of them. You need to repair the door. As for the heating issue, Check and make sure you have 240 volts coming to the dryer. Check and make sure the unit is not set to Air Fluff. Also check the heater and thermostats and see if they are good. You can test these with a multi-meter MA-DM1. They should read closed for continuity. Jay August 08, 2013 for Model Number FAQE7011KWO Hello, my dryer has begun stopping before the clothes are dry when set to one of the automatic dry positions. When we use the timed dry option, there is plenty of heat coming out the vent and the clothes come out very dry. I suspect either the thermostat or thermistor. Which would it be or is it something else? Thanks for the help. Jay
1 Answer Hello Jay. It sounds like the venting system is clogged or kinked. You will need to check the vent and clean it out. Be sure and clean the vent pipe and the dryer air duct assembly. If the air flow is not good, the unit will retain moist air causing the clothes not to dry. Try running the unit with the vent unhooked from the back of the dryer and see if the dryer works properly. Jeff July 27, 2013 for Model Number 417.88042700 I just replaced the electronic control board for this dryer and that fixed the problem of the dryer not working at all. Now my customer is complaining about the dryer working fine for one or two cycles than doesn't want to heat at all. Everything has been checked and rechecked. The thermistor is the only thing that didn't register continuity. How many ohms is it supposed to read? What should I check next? Power coming in is 240.
1 Answer Jeff, The control thermistor reading should be 50000 ohms at room temperature plus or minus 10 percent. If outside this range then replace the thermistor. Read More...
Scott May 15, 2013 for Model Number FAQE7011KWO My dryer runs but will not heat. Lint catcher, blower wheel, and venting are clear from Lint and obstructions. How do I best determine if the issue is with the heater element, thermostat, or thermister/controler?
1 Answer Hello Scott. You can test these for continuity with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Ken April 25, 2013 for Model Number 41784152500 Can the Thermistor also be checked by a Ohms meter? Thermistor has significant resistance. Dryer over heats and when I checked the Thermostat and Thermal Limiter both had near '0' ohms. Ducting cleaned out and control board timer still works but still over heating with this loud humm/buzzing sound when it gets over heated.
1 Answer Ken, Check to make sure that the blower wheel does not have heavy lint build up on that would cause the unit to not pull the air properly. Also check the cycling thermostat to make sure that it is opening when it gets to temp. If not then the unit will overheat. Read More...
Rob January 28, 2013 I have an amana gas dryer. It runs but doesn't heat up. It makes a clicking noise like it's trying to ignite. What could it be?
1 Answer Hello Rob. You will need to test the thermostats and the flame sensor and make sure they are good. They should read closed for continuity. Also, check the igniter and make sure it is getting hot enough to light the gas. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter for the testing procedures. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Justin November 24, 2012 for Model Number leq2152es0 My dryer runs but will not heat. I have replaced the heating element an the thermal limiter. Any ideas?
1 Answer Hello Justin, You also want to check your hi limit thermostat 3204267 to make sure that you have continuity through it. Also check the thermistor 134587700 on the front of the blower duct for continuity. Check venting to make sure that it is clear from blower wheel all the way the the outside of home. Read More...
Robert S. October 10, 2012 for Model Number AGQ7000ES1 Could the thermistor control prevent dryer motor from starting? I checked it with ohm meter and it shows open.
1 Answer Hi. Yes, the thermistor part # 134587700 can prevent the dryer from running. Also check the igniter sensor part # 5303281135 to see if it has opened as well. Make sure the vent is entirely clear and not restricted. Make sure the outside vent cap / hood is opening and closing properly 4-5x /yr. so lint and moisture does not back up and create a restriction causing these issues. Thank You. Read More...
Nettie July 17, 2012 for Model Number lgq2152eso The dryer keeps cycling the heat on and off. I have replaced the control panel but now I am getting codes DA and E68. Can you tell me what these codes mean?
