The 8-inch Large Surface Element is an OEM replacement part for GE electric ranges. Occupying a full burner space, it provides powerful heating for large pots and pans. Consistent output is important for chef-quality results. Fits those General Electric and Hotpoint ranges using a 2350 watt, hi-rise, no trim ring, 2 wire, screw-in element.

Causes of a bad surface element can include electrical malfunctions, frequent use leading to wear and tear, or physical damage from impacts or spills. Over time, the element may burn out or develop hot spots, leading to uneven heating.

Symptoms of a failing element include:

  • Heat not radiating out evenly from the entire coil surface
  • Fluctuating temperatures and inconsistent boiling or searing
  • Exposed or damaged wiring presenting shock or burn risks
  • Controls no longer functioning properly to turn the element on/off

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore ranges

NOTE: For the matching 6-inch element order WB30X359. Includes the ceramic terminal blocks, clips, and screws for mounting.

Doug, Try this, Place a large pot of water on the burner element (at least 3 or 4 quarts) and bring the water to a boil. Once the water is boiling turn off the burner and allow the element to cool back down. It'll take a while, but the high heat and weight of the water should allow the element to temper and even out or level out in the drip bowl/ring.

Hello Joey, You will have to splice the wires since the connections inside the ceramic block is what normally cause the issue. Also, since a poor connection is what normally causes the receptacle WB17X5113 failure, you should also replace the surface element unless you can sand the connections down to eliminate any burn marks completely. As a note, your model is listed by the manufacturer as JBP26G*K2.
