The Configured UI Board is an OEM part for GE dishwashers. It serves as the central control unit, managing all operations of the dishwasher including cycles, temperatures, water levels, and timings. The UI board has all necessary wiring and components factory-installed to seamlessly interface with existing control panels and buttons.

Causes of a bad UI board can include water damage, cracked or loose circuitry, or failures of electronic components over time. Without a functioning UI board, the dishwasher cannot run cycles or sense user inputs.

Symptoms of a bad UI board include:

  • The dishwasher not starting or running cycles
  • Control panel malfunctions like unresponsive buttons or odd error codes
  • Inability to select desired cycles or change settings
  • Appliance failing to self-diagnose or display problems

This GE replacement part is compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Hello Ambrosio, thank you for contacting Appliance Parts Pros. This could be due to the user interface [WD21X31899], the in-door harness [WD21X20125], the main control [WD21X24901C], or another component failure. I recommend accessing the main control and seeing if it is flashing any codes or lights.

Berney for Model Number GDF520PGJ4BB

For several months unit has been beeping randomly. Washed fine so we just ignored it. Now there’s no lights on the front panel and nothing works. Unit has power. Machine Control board has solid LED light which I think means there’s no connection to UI board. Wiring looks good going into door. So I think it’s a bad UI board. Do you concur? Can’t move dishwasher without tearing up tile floor (cabinet/countertop installers didnt account for tile floor!) Is it possible to remove and install new UI board without moving dishwasher? Looks like I can get door off using Allen wrenches and removing the 2 screws under the door. Lastly, what is the correct part number for the UI board? When I use the check part function it says wrong part. Many thanks for your help!

Berney, Based on the information provided you will need to use the tech sheet provided with your machine for your model. Using said tech sheet you should run the SERVICE MODE diagnostic test to check for any error/fault codes and then follow the tech sheet for the cause of the error found. The solid LED denotes the machine has power and the door is closed.

Hello, we are having trouble with GE dishwasher GDF570SSJOSS, purchased in 2017. We have lights on the control panel but it will not start. When the start button is pushed we just get the door open beep, with continuously blinking start light. The door switch was removed and we found it had continuity so we reinstalled it. (No other obstructions to keep door open.) The lights will also spontaneously come on or disappear throughout the day, followed by door open beeps. It seems to have a mind of its own. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Ronald, If you are sure the latch is not damaged and cheeks correctly when the door should be shut then the main control board would be the issue. The board deciphers if the door is open or shut based on input from the door switch.WD21X24901C

THE UI control board on my dishwasher does not light up and is unresponsive. I confirmed there is power to the appliance and ther is 30 volts at the main control board at the yellow/blue and black/green terminals. I replaced the UI control board and configured it with all 4 jumpers in place as outlined in the instructions. The UI control board still does not light up or respond. What else can be the issue? Was there supposed to be an updated wiring harness between the main and UI control boards?

1 Answer

Mike, There is not an updated harness but would most likely be a faulty harness if you have proper power from the main board but the user interface is not lighting up.

Kelly, Check the wiring between the main control board and the User interface. If this is ok then the issue will be a faulty User Interface that will need to be replaced.

John for Model Number GDF520PGJ5CC

This machine appears to be dead. No LED's no response from button pushes. After starting to work on it, it came to life. seemed to be working fine. Could not get it to fail. After several uses it failed again. Before finding your website and good repair help, I replaced the WD21X24901 Main Board from a local parts supplier. That didn't solve the problem. I found your website and asked a question and received an immediate response to test for 13.5 volts on the black/green and yellow/blue wires on the User Interface Control Board. Voltage is there. Machine worked for a couple of days and fail again. I have taken the door apart attempted to clean the connector contacts the best as possible, flexed the entire wiring harness. Before putting additional money into the machine or a new User Interface Control Board, I would like to make sure this will fix my problem. Today I took the non working machine apart again and the first thing I did was unplug the wiring harness on the main board going to the User Interface Board. When I plugged it back in the machine came to life. Can't get it to stop working now. The reason I hesitate to buy the User Interface Board is my concern of the Current Sense Module shutting down the machine due to motor or more expensive problem. Mother-in-law who owns the machine says that ever since it was purchased it would randomly have the LED's come on and make some sounds. She also indicated that even when running on short cycles machine would run for three to four hours. Does it sound like the User Interface Control Board will solve my problem or could it be the Current Sense Module tripping because of another problem? You guys a doing a great job with the quick response and from now on your my supplier for appliances parts!

1 Answer

John, This issue does sound like it would be caused by a faulty User Interface control board.
