The Refrigerator Union Connector is an OEM replacement part for GE refrigerators. It is responsible for connecting the water supply lines from the kitchen plumbing to the refrigerator, allowing water to flow to the ice maker and water dispenser. The plastic connector assists your water dispenser by joining two 5/16 inch x 5/16 inch plastic water lines. Over time, Union Connectors can crack or break under pressure.

Causes of a bad Union Connector include wear and tear from repeated use, exposure to extreme fluctuations or surges in water pressure, or damage from accidental mishandling.

Symptoms of a bad Refrigerator Union Connector include:

  • Water leaks at or near the connector area
  • Inconsistent or no water flow to the ice maker/dispenser
  • Fluctuations in water pressure to the fridge
  • Water damage to surrounding kitchen areas from leaks

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Ashok, To remove the tubing to the water filter, you will first need to pull the unit out and turn off the water. You will then remove the lower cover on the back of the refrigerator to access the water valve. You will disconnect the tubing that runs up to the water filter head by removing the little black or red clip that is between the valve housing and the ring on the valve. Once removed you will push on the ring and at the same time pull on the tubing. You will then remove the cover on the water lines that go into the back of the refrigerator compartment. Open the refrigerator door and take the screw out that holds the filter head assembly in place and slide forward. Once it is out then you can pull the tubing and filter head out. You would remove the tubing the same as you did on the water valve and install the new one by just pushing it straight in. reassemble the unit.

I am replacing the water dispenser white tube 5/16 part no. 5210ja3004u of the LG refrigerator, the tube cracked in the middle and i want to replace a 2ft section only, I want to connect the new tube with the old tube on both ends and need two union or coupler. I see there are different types and am not sure which one to choose, I see a connector union oem, a tubing connector ranging $3 to 15? What is the difference? What do you suggest, I have a 5/16 plastic white tubing now.

Hello Delbert. You squeeze the two compression fittings on the ends of the union and pull out the water lines. Then press the lines into the new union WR02X11330 until they lock into place on the unit.

Jason for Model Number GSH25SGPASS

In the description of this part (Connector Union Part Number AP3414915) "This plastic quick connecting union is used to join two 5/16 inch x 5/16 inch plastic water lines together for the water dispenser on your refrigerator." I'm looking for the water line that is a part of this freezer door. It exits the base of the freezer door through the hinge. When you remove the door from the rest of the refrigerator it's the clear water line that extends out the base of the door. When reassembling the fridge you have to feed the waterline through the hinge. You then feed it through (GE Slv Watr Lin (Part Number: AP2060593)) and then through this part (Connector Union Part Number AP3414915). Your help is greatly appreciated.

Jason, the water line that feeds through the freezer door is not available separate from the freezer door part number WR78X11708. When replacing the door you'll also need template part number WR49X10141. Thanks!

Hey guys, Any idea why my GE fridge water line keep freezing-up ? no water is coming out of the water dispenser and this is the 7th times I have to defrost the fridge. Assumming its a manufacture defect, can you recommend an option on how to insulate the hose so not to freeze-up for the eight times ? Freezer temp have been adjusted accdg and the issue continue to stick-around. Is there a way I can access the internal freezer panel door so to cover the hose ? Can you send me the procedure ? thanks
