Lois for Model Number GE Monogram Side by Side Refrigerator

I've has a repair service come out. The fan behind the Climate Control has been making a knocking noise. They diagnosed as need a new fan behind drawer. Explaining if not fixed the temperature of the whole fridge can be affected. I turned the drawer off yesterday, the knocking noises have ceased. My question is do I really need that drawer on,or will the temperature of entire fridge eventually have an issue? I really don't use it....

Lois, The custom cool does not need to be turned on in order for the unit to cool properly.

Gary M for Model Number ZIS480NMC

I have a ZIS480NMC side by side Monogram refrigerator. The lower draw in the refrigerator is about 12-15F even though the temp setting is at 34 F (produce selection) and the overall refrigerator temperature is about 10 degrees lower than the temp setting. The displays all seem to be reading correctly. I measured all of the thermistors and they are measuring 12-15K ohms. Is it safe to assume that the thermistors are good? If so, what is the most likely cause of this malfunction, the control board, lower damper or? Could you give me some trouble shooting suggestions?

1 Answer

Gary, Your post description would indicate that the damper(s) WR60X10063 and WR31X10017 are probably stuck open or broken and allowing cold air to continuously circulate through the drawer and into the refrigerator compartment. You'll also want to check and make sure the seals aren't broken or leaking air as well. If you repost your question and include an e mail address we can assist you with some illustrated information that may make it easier on you.

Steve, You would just need to replace the damper assembly but make sure that it is not the double one that needs replaced. Also to remove this damper you will have to remove the entire custom cool section of the unit.

Rick, There is also a damper at the top of the unit located under the cover toward the rear of the unit top. The part number for the damper is WR02X12860.

Derek for Model Number PSW26SGPASS

The damper on my GE Profile fridge model PSW26SGPASS has broken. The replacement part seems to be WR60X10063. However, the electrical connection is different. The damper on my fridge is on a wire harness which is soldered to the damper motor (four wires, red, white, blue and yellow) and to the fan, with a plug connection to the fridge wiring. The replacement part has a plug in connection, which seems from the photos to have only two wires. So, is this the correct damper for my model? If so, do I need to replace the damper, the fan and the wire harness? If so, what parts should I order other than the damper? And will the new harness fit the connection in the fridge? Thanks

1 Answer

Derek, Based on the wire colors you supplied, you need the Refrigerator Damper Assembly WR49X10091. The part number you ordered WR60X10063 is the Damper Assembly for the "Custom Cool" compartment at the bottom of the refrigerator compartment.

Tom, Behind the climate zone there is a fan motor that could be faulty or there is the dampers for the climate zone. If the damper is faulty then you would want to replace the damper.
