The Fabric Softener Dispenser is an OEM replacement part for GE washers. It is located on the top of the agitator. This dispenser allows for easy addition of fabric softener or other washing aids at the ideal time in the cycle. With a simple twist and pour into the reservoir, it then evenly releases the solution to condition clothes during the final rinse.

Causes of a bad dispenser can include cracks or leaks allowing premature discharge into the wash drum. Mineral buildup may also clog the release nozzles.

Symptoms of a bad dispenser include:

  • Fabric softener not fully dispensing or splashing outside the dispenser cup
  • Stains or residue transferring onto clothes from residues
  • Strong chemical smells if the contents extra release early

This GE OEM replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Craig for Model Number GCWP1000M0WW

This may seem funny but could this model be converted to a model that allows for the use of fabric softener? If so, which parts would need to be obtained and changed in order to do this? Thank you! Craig for Model Number GCWP1000M0WW ANSWER Hello Craig, You will need to order WH43X139 for the model provided. Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Thursday, March 10, 2016 I had originally posted this and I do have that part already but there is not setting on the controls for fabric softener. I was wondering what parts I would need to fix that? Thank you

Hello Dana, The fabric softener stays in the dispenser cup until the unit goes into the high speed spin. This uses centrifugal force to spin the softener out of the inner cup into the outer part of the dispenser. It then runs down and goes into the wash through the agitator holes. A note on the use of softener: Diluting the softener with hot water before putting it into the dispenser will prevent the heavy build-up related to softener usage and aids in a more even dispense and is recommended by the manufacturer.
