The Drive Belt is an OEM part for GE washing machines. It functions as a critical component that connects the motor to the drum, transferring power from the motor, which in turn allows the drum to spin during the wash cycle. Made from rubber reinforced with fibers, this belt is designed to withstand the stress of spinning and agitating motions.

Symptoms of a bad Drive Belt include:

  • The washing machine drum not spinning,
  • A squealing or screeching sound when the washer is running,
  • Visible fraying, glazing, or signs of wear on the belt,
  • The belt slipping off the motor or drum pulley.

Causes of drive belt failure typically include regular wear and tear from use, overloading of the washer which puts extra strain on the belt, or exposure to oils and other substances that can degrade the rubber.

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Hello Karl. You will need to turn the large pulley by hand and see if the tub engages. If not, you will need to replace the transmission and brake assembly WH38X10002. If it does engage, you will need to install the belt WH1X2026 where it has enough tension to turn the pulley. Hope this helps.

Hi JayYo. Yes it sounds like you might just need a belt. Check to see if you dont have any clothes stuck in between your inner and outer basket's. Does the timer and motor at least hum,to show they want to work? Is there anything stuck in your pump propeller ,stopping it from turning? hope this helps. The drive belt part # is WH1X2026. Thank-you.
