Kevin April 14, 2015 for Model Number PSS26SGRBSS I understand there is no replacement for the plastic drive bucket. With that, what other ice maker components could possibly contribute to the failure of the drive bucket? Specifically, the ice maker worked for years with no failure, then all of the sudden, I can’t replace then fast enough before it breaks again. And yes, I monitor the amount of ice by turning it off before the tray is full. I appreciate any help.
1 Answer Hello Kevin. Any component of the ice bucket can cause it to fail. You would have to disassemble the bucket and look for broken parts. Read More...
Butch H February 04, 2015 for Model Number GSHS5PGXCESS The ice maker is making a loud "banging" noise. It will work fine after removing and then replacing the bucket. Once I try to get crushed ice, the banging starts again. The dry cup has been previously replaced but is now slightly cracked again. Why would activating crushed ice cause this?
1 Answer Butch, In some cases when this issue occurs it is caused by clumping of the ice, especially under the auger. You will want to check to make sure that there is no ice clumping under the auger, and also if the drive cup is cracked you will want to replace the drive cup. Read More...
Jd August 12, 2014 for Model Number PSS26SGPASS I've replaced the drive cup now at least 3 times. It just doesn't last very long before breaking again. Is there a non-plastic version of this part AP3203248)?
1 Answer Hello JD. Sorry, there is not one. Try empting out your ice weekly to have fresh ice in there. This should help with the breaking of the cup. Read More...
Marilee June 23, 2014 Just replaced the drive cup--great tutorial! Just wondering if the other parts at the other end of the auger should be a little bit loose or firm? Mine are a bit loose so the drive cup wobble--is this normal?
1 Answer Hello Marilee. The drive cup and blades should not be real tight, but also not real loose. You need to check and make sure all the spacers are in place on the unit. Read More...
John June 06, 2014 for Model Number PSS26MSTD SS I tried to replace the drive cup while watching video, my problem is trying to lift the tabs to remove the auger. There is a 1/2 inch metal nub ,I think it is the opposite end of the auger sticking out of the front of the ice maker through a small hole. After popping the tabs this stops the auger from lifting out. WR17X11459 This metal tip is seen after removing the cover.

Joe S. May 13, 2014 for Model Number GE Frig- RSS26LSRCss Your videos are great. It appears the drive cup is cracked and looks like an easy repair. My concern is that the blade at the opposite end of the drive cup does not seem to be permanently attached to the auger. Should it be? It turns loosely when turning the auger. My concern is that I replace the drive cup but it will not fix the problem. Thanks
1 Answer Hello Joe, This is not difficult. You may want to take pictures with your cell phone along the way to refer back to during the re-assembly. You have to take the dispense end apart to slide the entire auger forward so the drive cup can be changed. The cup is not permanently attached to the auger. The auger just fits into the cup. Bob December 21, 2013 for Model Number PSW26SGP Our fridge will not dispense water, we think the line may be frozen. The fridge temp is 30, I keep trying to reset the temp to the recommended 37, but it keeps reverting back to 30. What am I doing wrong?
1 Answer Bob, You will want to check your damper in the upper left corner of the refrigerator section to ensure that the damper door is not broken. If broken then it will cause the freezing issue. Read More...
