Jock August 18, 2015 for Model Number JCB800SK5SS The hot stovetop indicator light remains on after the element cools. To solve this do I replace the element switch or the element?
1 Answer Miguel, First you'll need a multi meter TJMA-DM1, if you don't have one. A 8 in. element is usually a "single" ribbon element WB30T10132. With the wires labeled and removed from the sensor and the element terminals. At the sensor box on the side of the element, the two outer terminals should have an "open" circuit, when the meter leads are placed across the terminals. The two inner terminals on the sensor should have a "closed" circuit when the leads are placed across the two terminals. On the side of the element there are two terminals, one has a metal jumper tab attached to the sensor box. across the two terminals you should have a resistance reading of approximately 28 to 30 ohms resistance if the element ribbon is intact, 0 resistance would indicate a broken element ribbon, and the burner will need to be replaced.
