Causes of a bad element radiant can include burnouts from excessive use, damage due to spills or impacts, and electrical issues. A faulty heating element can result in uneven cooking or the element failing to heat up at all.

Symptoms of a bad Element Radiant 9 Dual include:

  • The element not heating or only partially heating
  • Uneven heating across the surface
  • Visible damage or discoloration on the element

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Hot surface light stays on --even when stove/burners are no longer hot. When the switch was removed from the front right burner the light went off. We replace the switch, however, the light came back on. We do not want to replace the burner since it is working properly --the surface light is the issue. We called GE and were given part numbers for the 9" dual radiant surface element (WB30T10133) and the indicator light (WB18T10349). Will replacing either of these make the light work properly?

1 Answer

Vww, Replacing the element will be what will correct this issue. The element has a limiter on it that is causing the light to stay on.

Hello Journeyman. COOKTOP REMOVAL Before removing the cooktop, the control panel must first be removed (reference section on control panel removal). The cooktop is fastened to the body side extensions with two (2) screws. Remove the 2 screws and slide the cooktop assembly forward. Lift the cooktop off. CONTROL PANEL REMOVAL The control panel contains the ERC and infinite switches. To service: 1. Remove faceplate (reference section on control panel assembly). 2. Remove screws (from bottom) securing control panel to vent trim. 3. Remove steel control panel insert by removing 4 screws. 4. Detach from main harness by unplugging the two 15-pin connector blocks. 5. Remove 5 screws securing the control panel to the maintop assembly. 6. Control panel can now be removed. Now you can replace the element.
