David July 22, 2018 for Model Number GTH21GBEBCC Your video to replace the defrost fan motor is for a side by side refrigerator. Mine is a top freezer without icemaker. The fan has become very noisy and quiets briefly when I hit the housing covering the unit. Is this motor the same for the top freezer and if so do I just remove the cover to access the unit or is there a different video for this type of repair.
1 Answer David, This evaporator fan motor WR60X26085 would be the correct fan motor for your unit. Read More...
Alan H. May 16, 2016 for Model Number GFSF6KKYEWW I'm pretty sure the evap fan in the fresh food section is out. It was making a grinding noise for a while, then the noise stopped. Then the fridge gradually warmed up with the freezer is perfectly cold. I tried removing the cover, part 98, in the diagram. I removed 4 screws and the center shelf support, found some tabs along the side and pried most of it up, but the top where the fan is doesn't seem to budge. I'm not sure if the plastic is supposed to separate from the polystyrene underneath or not. So anyway, if you could give me some direction on how to reveal the evap fan so I can confirm it is not working, I would appreciate it much and you will have won my business again. Thanks.
1 Answer Hello Alan. It is frozen up. You need to turn off the unit and let the ice melt away, then it will pull out of the unit. Otherwise, you will break the foam in the back. Read More...
