Garland, It would be recommended to pull the refrigerator out and check the tubing that is behind the unit and see if there is a broken or damaged tube and repair if there is.

Jes for Model Number GE profile PFCS1RKZH SS

A loud vibrating noise, like a jackhammer, happens whenever the water dispenser is engaged. This started randomly, not when I changed the water filter. I tried replacing the water filter with a new one and the noise did not stop. I also tried replacing the filter with the filter bypass plug, and the sound still happens when the water dispenser is engaged. What part needs replacing? The water inlet valve? The water filter housing assembly? The filter head? Something else? Other than the noise, the water dispenser and ice maker seem to be working fine and I have no leaks.

Carol, This issue would most likely be caused by a water valve that is seeping causing the water to drip at the dispenser door.

Seems that the water pressure to the dispenser has decreased. The ice maker isn't filling anymore either. Suspected that a new filter was needed, but when it was changed, the problem seemed to get worse. There seems to be plenty of pressure from the main line. I've changed the inlet valve, but this made no difference. After I found the filter bypass plug and installed it, there was no difference in the water pressure, but when I pushed the plug toward the rear panel of the fridge or pulled it slightly toward me the pressure to the dispenser increased significantly. We've got pretty hard city water. How could the water filter housing be affecting the water pressure?

1 Answer

Heeb, For this issue you would want to replace the water filter housing assembly which would cause both the ice and water to not work. The way that it can affect water pressure by the pins for the water to pass through being worn or faulty.

Waleed, When you replace the water filter, you need to be careful when you insert it into the filter head assembly. You can dislodge the diverter valve inside the assembly and this will cause a vibration type noise, and a reduction or elimination of the water flow. You can try to replace the filter, again but you will probably need to replace the water filter head assembly WR17X12512, in order to solve the problem. The part is in stock and available at this time. Thanks,

Hello Jeffrey, You will need to replace the filter head. I'm sorry but we cannot recommend a part number that we know will work for your unit without the model number from your units' I.D. tag. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.
