D November 16, 2015 for Model Number GE Spacemaker over the counter model JVM1650WH05 purchased January 2006 Every thing works except will not cook. I suspect fuse but need advice as to where it is located and how to access it. Thank you for your help. D M Columbus, Ga.
1 Answer Hello D. You most likely have a "high voltage" side malfunction. Transformer, diode, magnetron, Capacitor. You will need to be extremely careful if you decide to test the components with a multi meter, Very high residual voltage is present, so make sure you remove power to the microwave and short across the terminals on the capacitor. The magnetron should have a reading of less than 1 ohm resistance across the two terminals, and an "open" circuit between each terminal and chassis ground. The diode/rectifier should have a resistance reading in one direction only, no resistance, or resistance in both directions indicate a faulty diode. The primary winding on the transformer should read approximately 450 Ohms resistance, the secondary winding should read 80 ohms resistance, and the filament transformer should read 100 ohms resistance. All of these are +- 10%. If all the readings are proper and in range, replace the magnetron. Read More...

John September 29, 2015 for Model Number jtp86soh6ss The appliance in question is a 'GE Profile electric wall oven with built in microwave! The wall oven will not get hot. The bake and broil heating elements won't heat at all! They appear in good shape cosmetically. My first question is, ' how do I diagnose the problem?
1 Answer John, There is a limit switch in line with the bake and broil element. You will want to check the limit switch and make sure that it has continuity. If there is no continuity then the part is faulty. Read More...
Sara September 20, 2015 for Model Number jwm1653sh01 When I turn on the microwave it shuts off after 5-10 seconds. Sometimes it will last the full time I select. Everything else is working fine. What is the issue? : ) Is it the fuse? Ive unplugged it, Ive turned on off the circuit breakers to reestablish a connection but that doesn't help. Thank you?
1 Answer Sara, You will want to check the door switches on the unit since it shuts off after 10 to 15 seconds. If the fuse was bad then it would not restart at all. If the unit is not restarting then would check the thermal fuse and door switches. Read More...
Susan September 08, 2015 for Model Number JVM1630WJ01 I have a GE space maker microwave. every thing works except the microwave (lights, clock, timer, vent, ect, when I turn on the microwave a fuse will blow, I have replaced it three times so I am wondering what would cause it to blow.
1 Answer Hello Susan. You will need to test all 3 door switches and locate the bad one. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Susan September 08, 2015 for Model Number JMV1630WJ01 after running about 12 seconds microwave blows fuse, replace fuse and same thing happens
1 Answer Susan, You would want to check the door switches, the power supply coming into the unit to make sure that there is not a surge and check for an issue with the Transformer, magnetron or capacitor. Read More...
Dellus September 01, 2015 for Model Number GE JVM1842WF001 Reinstalled over stove micro with vent/light after remodel. Now does not heat- but turntable, fan, lights, and other functions still work
1 Answer Hello Dellus, This can be any of the components on the high voltage side, (High voltage diode, high voltage capacitor, high voltage transformer, magnetron, or the harness. The unit will have to be opened to troubleshoot. Be sure to ground the capacitor to ground every time before touching any electrical connections after the plug has been energized by plugging into the wall outlet. The stored electrical energy stored in the HV Capacitor is sufficient to stop your heart. Read More...
