Terry M June 25, 2015 for Model Number CVM2072SM3SS After 5 years and 1 month the touch pad on our microwave stopped working. Viewed you-tube video on cleaning contacts on touch pad circuit board. Tried to clean contacts on ribbons but it did not solve the problem. I see there are two inline fuses above the touch pad housing. If I remove the fuses should I have continuity between both ends? Can I check the fuses without removing them? They do not appear to be clear so cannot tell if they are burnt out. If burnt out should they be brown or black?
1 Answer Hello Terry. The fuses should read closed for continuity. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
John June 03, 2015 for Model Number Kenmore microwave 721.66227 Microwave was running fine, all of a sudden it just quite running. It is getting power, touch pad is working and light is coming on, clock is working as well. If you sent the timer and press start the light comes on but nothing else happens. Any ideas?
1 Answer Hello John. You will need to test all the door switches in the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Donna C May 23, 2015 for Model Number JMV8186AAW My Jenn-Air Microwave Hood Combo microwave does not work at all. I heard a pop and it went out, with no lights, no nothing. It does not come on at all. The electrical plug does work as I plugged something into it and that appliance worked. So, what should I buy. A fuse or a motor fan? If so, can you tell me the part number(s) of the items needed. and then how to get to it to replace. thanks
1 Answer Donna, You will want to test the ceramic fuse WPM0805101 and see if it has blown. If it has then most likely the door switches have failed. The upper and lower switch part number is WP3405-001034 and the middle switch is part number 3405-001033. It is best to replace all the switches at the same time because when one goes bad it can affect the other 2. To access the fuse and switches you will need to remove the unit from installation. There are 2 or 3 screws in the cabinet above the unit that you will need to remove and make sure that you have someone hold the unit while removing. Once the screws are removed then roll the front of the unit down and take out the power cord from the location in the cabinet above the unit. You then lift the unit from the rear bracket. Once removed then set it on a blanket to keep from scratching, remove the air grill and the cabinet of the unit and you will have access to the switches and fuse. Read More...
Mike April 03, 2015 for Model Number jvm1870bf001 I tested fuses and found the ceramic were good. No change in the dead micro wave. I jumped out to two other two plastic style fuses. I found one to be bad but only the exhaust fan runs. The panel is still dark. Any pointers?
1 Answer Hello Mike. If there is power to the board and the board does not work, you will need to order and replace the smart board WB27X10604 on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Mike April 02, 2015 for Model Number JVM 1870BF 001 Micro wave is totally dead, tried to plug into a known good outlet with extension cable, no change. I had read the fuse is a possibility. Can you tell me how to get to the fuse? Or any other recommendations to try? Thank you, Mike
1 Answer Mike, There are actually a couple of fuses in this unit but the one that is most common would be the ceramic fuse. To access this you would need to remove the air grill by removing 3 screw across the top edge of the cabinet that hold the grill in place. Slide to the left and remove. Then you would remove 1 screw holding the control panel in place. Make sure that the unit is unplugged from power supply. At this point you should be able to see the fuse and you should be able to replace from this point. Typically what will cause this to fail would be a faulty door switch in which the manufacturer recommends replacing all 3 door switches. Read More...
Paul January 31, 2015 for Model Number SCBC2000CWW01 Came home and noticed Advantium SCBC2000CWW display requested that I set the clock ( no problems previously). I set the clock and push the start pad only to hear a slight "pop" and then nothing, no display. Upon investigation I found that the fuse had blown and melted the holder as well. Any ideas as to why this could have occurred? I ordered a new holder and fuses and plan to replace and see what happens. After reviewing the wiring diagram it appears it could be several different items.
1 Answer Hello Paul, I would not recommend to put a new fuse and holder in until you locate the short. This can be a component that is internally shorted or it can be a wire or connection touching ground. If you replace the fuse first and apply power, the problem will most likely recur. Yu can locate the short with a resistance meter and the unit unplugged from the wall outlet. Test from each side of the fuseholder to chassis ground on the unit. It will show a connection to ground in one direction. If you disconnect each component one at a time, when you unplug the responsible component, the connection to chassis ground will go to no connection. Read More...
Linda W. January 31, 2015 for Model Number JVM1860BF001 Selected the "2 Express Cook" to heat water. Heard a popping sound. The microwave continued on as if everything was fine. The water did not heat. Further attempts, sounded like everything was working, no heated water. Did the fuse blow (GE AP2631556, diagram position 74), or something else? Thank you
1 Answer Hello Linda, This unit will have to be opened to determine if this is a high voltage problem or a low voltage problem. This can be a door switch, control board, high voltage transformer, high voltage diode, magnetron, etc... You will either need a test meter and the wiring diagram or a technician. Because of the high tension voltage involved with microwaves, it can be dangerous for both the test equipment and the testing individual. Read More...
Joneszee January 10, 2015 for Model Number ge-JT965Sk1SS This GE wall unit is one that has the microwave over the regular oven. The microwave works fine but the regular oven does not heat. We've tested all three elements via the broil, bake and convection setting on the control panel. None of the elements heat. The control panel looks as it should when setting the regular oven. All three heating elements stopped working at the same time. The broil element looks fine but we have not tested it with a meter. We haven't removed any parts at this time. The circuit breaker has been checked (off and then back on). The question is: could this be a fuse? or control panel? something else? If a fuse, where is if located? Thanks in advance for your help. Joneszee
1 Answer Joneszee, This issue would be caused by a faulty clock assembly which would need to be replaced. The part number for the clock is WB27T10566. Read More...

Peter December 09, 2014 for Model Number ZE2160SF04 The other day I was defrosting something and the microwave just went dark. I took it apart and noticed the 20amp ceramic fuse was blown. I did not have a ceramic fuse so I replaced it with a glass automotive fuse 20 amp. It worked for a week then blew again. I put in another automotive fuse just to hold me over until I could get the correct fuse and when I plugged it in it worked enough to power the clock then blew before I even used the microwave. I am curious as to whether or not you believe the fuse to be the problem or should I start somewhere else. Obviously I need to order the ceramic fuse to start, but do you have any feeling that something bigger may be the problem since it blew the glass fuse almost on plug-in? Also, please confirm the correct part number for the ceramic fuse I do need. Thanks, Peter
