Manufacturer Part Number: WR14X10238

The Gasket is an OEM part for GE refrigerators, specifically designed to ensure an airtight seal around the refrigerator or freezer door. This crucial component plays a significant role in maintaining the appliance's energy efficiency by preventing cold air from escaping and warm air from entering.

Causes of a bad Gasket can stem from normal wear and tear over time, accidental damage, or deformation due to improper cleaning methods or exposure to extreme temperatures.

Symptoms of a bad Gasket include:

  • Visible gaps or tears in the gasket material
  • Condensation or frost buildup inside the refrigerator or freezer, indicating air leaks
  • Difficulty in maintaining consistent internal temperatures
  • An increase in energy consumption as the appliance works harder to maintain the desired temperature

This OEM GE part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Byl, Above the repair video, it states, Note: This video is intended to give you the general idea of the part replacement procedure. Your appliance may differ depending on the manufacturer and model. Most newer models have a push in type gasket that you do not slide in behind the liner. If you can pull your gasket out it might just have a channel that your new gasket pushes into based on the pics.

Richard for Model Number PFSS5PJXASS

This is a clarification request of an earlier ask-&-answer on removing the right door flapper piece. I am replacing the door gasket and need to remove this flapper to get access. Your answer implied only one screw needed to be removed to lift off this flapper. But I see several screws attached to the flapper.. Is it the screws that appear to connect the flapper plate to the door. Two at the top, and two at the bottom where the electrical wire emerges from the door. Does the electrical wire need removal also? If so is the wire removal done from the flapper side

1 Answer

Richard, On this model, you have a top hinge and bottom hinge and I believe 2 screws in the top and 2 in the bottom to remove the flapper. The wire harness connector is located behind the bottom hinge on this unit.

Gary, When you open the flap like it would be when the door is closed there is a screw that you remove and then lift up to remove and disconnect the wires.
