The Spark Switch and Harness is an OEM replacement part for GE ranges. It consists of multiple spark switches connected via a harness. When turned, these switches initiate the ignition spark, lighting the burners.

Symptoms of a bad spark switch include:

  • Burners not igniting
  • Continuous sparking even after the burner is lit
  • Absence of sparking sound or visible spark when attempting ignition
  • The necessity to use an external flame source, like a lighter or match, to ignite the burners

Common causes for a malfunctioning spark switch can be attributed to a short circuit resulting from liquid spills or during cleaning, natural wear and tear over time, or defects in the wiring or individual switches that impede the electrical flow.

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

For Ge Harness Wire Switch (Part Number: OEM18095238)

Mallik for Model Number ZGU385NSM2SS

The ignition of our gastop is not working for last few months. I identified the problem with the Transformer. I replaced the transformer with a new one (WB27X21609) . The ignition system, that is, the click noise, the spark and the lights on the knobs everything worked fine for a few hours. After that it stopped working again. I tested the transformer with multimeter and found that there is no conductivity in the coil at the 110 volt power input side which means that the new transformer is also burnt. Does it mean that I have to change the spark module also? Or is there any other possibility? Can the problem be with the harness switch? The power supply from the wall socket seems to be OK. The label on the GE part WB13T10076 Spark Module is different than the part sold by you. So is the price. Is there any difference in the quality or specifications?

Mallik, the harness can be tested for continuity with the unit unplugged to identify if any switches are in a closed circuit condition when the knobs are in the off position. If there are any closed circuits when the unit is off, then the harness has failed. The only closed circuit that would occur is through the lights. If the harness switches test good, then it would be likely that there is a failure within the spark module WB13T10076 that is causing excessive draw on the transformer WB27X21609. The part numbers starting with AP are specific to our part numbers, however, under the item images are the MFG part numbers. The parts listed are OEM parts and pricing is set by the manufacturer. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this.

Hello Joe, To remove the harness from the valves you have to remove the glass top and slide the start switches off of the burner valves. Most snap onto the valves and a few have screws to hold them in position.
